Alan was doing some work in the garage and frantically called me..........."we have a bird in the garage". I ran downstairs to find a young bluejay fledgling who was totally disoriented in the garage and he wouldn't fly out. I finally picked him up in a towel, much to his dislike, and placed him on the front lawn. Within 10 seconds both Mom and Dad bluejay came to the rescue and led him to a clump of trees where they wouldn't leave him. Eventually they all flew off. Isn't nature wonderful! Posted Image

Karen couldn get the video but did it say why they congregated? They really eat up the bugs I understand. They sell them at Green Thumb I noticed.

George I'm so happy you got your new toy. Now you'll be able to do what you want to in the sunshine. I thought you might get it today. Red White and Blue comes thru again.

Sunshine...I have pleanty of right now. Sitting here waiting for DD to come. But I have my tummy problem again and I don't know if I will be able to go or not. I'm thinking maybe not. Took some med an hour ago and the faucet has not turned off yet. Who knows. Jeesh :(

Petra I commiserate with your poor tooth pain. I'm glad it's getting better. I wish there was an easier/better way to deal with loosing a tooth. I bet some day they will be able to just zap one out and zap a new one in.

I had heard the red skies at night thing but not the other fish scale one. I know exactly what that looks like too just never put two and two together.

 Tummy!!!

I couldn't resist this eagle with air plants on it (the one is blooming & has a purple flower on it), even though I don't really want any more dust catchers! I got it at Home Depot in Goleta & they have two more there  :D

Jill: those are bromeliads...what a great find!

edit: oops...I see Peetie already identified them for you.

Sandie - rofl rofl He really wasn't afraid but said I was the bird maven, LOL. The first thing I did was put Alan on traffic alert. My neighbour wanted to move his car and I said NO WAY, not until the birdie is safe. A happy ending for birdie and me. :D

Sandie...they didn't say. Sounded to me like it was a common thing for that area. Maybe that is where they go to lay their eggs. They sell them at most nurseries. They are a natural pest control. I have used them several times on my plants. I also just read in order to keep them from just flying off, to release them in the evening and to spray sugar water on your plants to simulate the "honey" that is secreted by aphids. I will do that next time.

Karen: It's nice to see a zoomed out photo of your flowers...definitely Calendula, Purple Sweet Alyssum, and Marigolds. The Alyssum will easily reseed itself...I love the smell of it...mmmmmm.

Marti love the picture of the Eagle Chopper. I would love to see the faces of the people who see it in Foreign Lands! rofl rofl

Loved the story of the Tommy F-14 Tomcat too with Two Bags. Cracked me up. :><:

In Pensacola I was in a F-18 E Flight Simulator. These are the planes The Blue Angels fly. The first time we took the regular ride in the Simulator. WOW what an experience that was. The vertical climbs and the dives. The dives scared Tommy. He asked me if we were gong to crash. When another plane passed up the entire Simulator would shudder. Take off and landing were so smooth I didn't even realize it till I looked at the screen.

The second time we took a Bombing Raid in Iraq and were catapulted off a Aircraft Carrier. I was fine till I heard, "we're hit, we're hit!" Then I started to get nervous. It is so realistic. We see smoke and head back to the Carrier and catch the wire thankfully. What an experience.

Peetie Thank you for recognizing the Milestone Postings. They do fly by don't they?
Hope you feel better soon. Wish there was something I could do for you.

George I'm glad to hear you got your New toy ahead of time. Enjoy it in good health.

I did contact the A.S.P.C.A re: the Alpaca's. Just thought others here too might do the same for them!

Chiquita, the birdhouse is over 20 years old.. had been high in a pine tree but the pine tree was diseased and cut down... my son took the house to the nearby eucalyptus tree and it is 6 feet off the ground.. the hole was smaller when it was new but various birds have made it to fit their idea of an entrance... it is now almost 2 inches across...it faces N/E... mostly East.. sunrise would shine in the hole if not for the trees that shade it... a birder made it for my DH years ago as a thank you for something he did... there is a very simple brown bird painted on the side.. will snap it from another angle for you... Its been home to many birds...
