Jill, DH forwarded that piece to many of his army buddies (Vietnam era). I don't think there is a dry eye left. DH was a burial detail officer after his tour in Nam and the video and music really moved him. Thanks again for sharing it. :Hugs:

Awwww, I'm so glad it's going to go around to so many more people. My head & eyes hurt from crying. It also reminded me of my step-son's funeral, miles of people by the side of the road as we headed to the church & then the cemetery. The fire trucks had their ladders up with the flag hanging down. On the freeway a truck driver outside his semi with his hat over his heart. The riderless horse with the boots in backwards. An incredible honor, all of it.

Ah Jill,

Thank you so much for posting that moving video. It's been sent to my brother-in-law, a Vietnam vet, who greatly appreciated it.

Ah Jill,

Thank you so much for posting that moving video. It's been sent to my brother-in-law, a Vietnam vet, who greatly appreciated it.

It is really my privilege to post something of such importance.

And a quote I just came across in my Citizenlink e-mail-

"Comfort and prosperity have never enriched the world as much as adversity has."— Rev. Billy Graham

I love the old nasturtium tablecloth on which you have placed your basket of tomatoes. I envy you and all of your tomatoes. We have always had tons of tomatoes, so many, like you, that I could make tomato sauce and have plenty to share with neighbors. But no more...along with water rationing here now and the night visitors I most likely will be pulling my tomato plants out by the end of the month. Over the last few years the night varments (rats, possoms, etc) have discovered our tomatoes and eat them at night long before they have started to turn red. DH loves fried green tomatoes and he does them up himself. Two weeks ago I told him to go out and get what he wanted as it looked like the varments would get them all if he didn't. We got only three red ones this year, but only because I picked them early and let them ripen in the kitchen. The last few years I have had to take a plastic bag and wrap it around the cluster of green tomatoes at night and then in the morning untie it to let them breath...this year the rats, or what ever, made big holes in the plastic to get to the tomatoes. My little yellow pear volunteers are about all that is left. Even my peppers are doing poorly...nothing to share with neighbors this year.

I like the picture of the quail family and bobcat.

Have you seen that hanging upside-down tomato thing advertised on TV? Maybe that's the way to go for those with persistent (and hungry) critters!

Kathie....Paul has one of those upside down thingys and he said he really likes it. But hunger is a motivating force. Something will always find your food I've thought. I would sit under an avocado tree and eat all of them if I were hungry. Or if chocolate grew on trees.....wow.

iggle...Yes, I have seen the upside down hanging tomato plants and I am considering that for next year...anyone out there have one and can comment? I do get some pleasure from digging in the dirt and making things grow that way, but it may come to the hanging tomato plant.
