Good morning, all.

Saint Swithin’s Day

On this day in 971 CE, the relics of the Bishop of Winchester, Saint Swithin, were entombed in Winchester Cathedral.

English tradition teaches that since it rained heavily that day, July 15th will mark the start of a 40-day rainy season.

'St. Swithin's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St. Swithin's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain nae mair.'

You made me do it! Here is a moldy oldie from The New Vaudeville Band

Winchester Cathedral-The New Vaudeville Band
[/SIZE]

And the lyrics too:

Winchester Cathedral
You're bringing me down
You stood and you watched as
My baby left town

You could have done something
But you didn't try
You didn't do nothing
You let her walk by

Now everyone knows just how much I needed that gal
She wouldn't have gone far away
If only you'd started ringing your bell

Winchester Cathedral
You're bringing me down
You stood and you watched as
My baby left town

Oh-bo-de-o-do oh-bo-de-o-do
Oh-bo-de-o-do de-do- duh

Deb, the Philmont trek sounds fantastic! I know that area well from fishing/camping trips on the Cimarron River. It is unbelievably beautiful. I know ES will have a wonderful time. (BTW, currently 55F going up to 87F with a chance of T-storms there - it is July afterall.)

Oy i am a happy k'nish! I finally "located" my ultimate village people parody tune by Gefilte Joe & The fish! Oy gevalt, would you belive its "Matzoh Man"! Also another Gem, and i use that term very very loosely, a parody of the Eddie Grant tune "electric avenue" called "Fairfax Avenue"! <::: Oy I'm gonna schlepp right down to....Fairfax avenue!...

Gefilte joe is allegedly one of the founders of the primarily novelty tune record label called Rhino Records. I have the Gefilte Joe & The Fish 33rpm disk but not a decent turntable to play it on so i had to look elsewhere for a copy of the tracks. When I saw the album I just had to buy it for my "collection" because its not very often one sees a blue vinyl disk shaped like The Star of David. This label is the one who also released one for the Barnes and Barnes gem "Fish Heads" shaped like a fish head. (not sure i would want to show it to T&L and the gang because they may want to eat it rofl ) One of Barnes and Barnes is the child star who portrayed will robinson on the show "lost in space" , Billy Mumy

Good morning everyone.

Today is Cow Appreciation Day. Hmm I'm thankful for the milk and cream they give us to make Ice Cream with especially the chocolate Ice Cream and Strawberry.

Penny yes all we need to do is to catch her but this is not easy since the Game Commission has basically wached they're hands of the matter saying she is doomed. We will not give up!

eaglepedia revisited

April 28, 2007

Juvenile bald eagles, they are generally dark brown of have shades of medium sprinkled around except for their underwings which is primarily white at the time they leave the nest. The changes after they fledge are complicated and confusing, the body taking on a blotchy appearance sometimes with a dark "bib" on the upper breast. They may also have a white speckled band below on the belly and a white triangle on the back. The tail and head feather changes are most consistent and most helpful in determining an eagle's age.
