yes i just reviewed the details about Yellow Girl!! I had to give praise to the dedicated nest cam viewers who got the wings a flapping to get the necessary interest and the help this peregrine needs! I also mentioned that its the viewers who helped and mentioned our own rescue thanks to the dedication of several angels here who managed to save the two eaglets last year. Just think if it were not for forums such as these and the live camera feeds, neither would have been possible. |

Sandie first they have to capture her which will not be an easy task. Second the will need a bolus of Antibiotics to combat any infection. Third the Raptor Center will contact the Dentist, they work with in these cases, and he will come and take an impression. Then fabricate the Prosthesis, and cement it in place after a try in or two. Finally Yellow Girl will be a non releasable Falcon, and used for Educational purposes. |

Very sad news about the basking shark. No need to worry about them or whale sharks. They are both huge, but very docile and only eat plankton. |

George and I both know a lady who works for the DEP in the Building where the nest is. She has Security looking out for Yellow Girl just in case she makes a crash landing. |

It appeared to me that there was blood coming from the gills. I wonder if it collided with a boat or another whale causing injury to it's lungs. |

dont dolphins ram sharks with their nose to drive them off sometimes causing injury to the shark as well? Though with most , its normally the run in with a prop of some boat alas. (egads it was only a few weeks ago that the movie that inspired the tv show "Flipper" was on AMC or TCM egads as a kid i recall watching both that show and i think also right after it when they were reruns "Sea Hunt" with Lloyd Bridges. Egads am i really THAT OLD???

I think your right about the Dolphins ramming sharks, although they are Cousins to Whales, yet I think the boats would certainly do more damage. I can't imagine a Dolphin being agressive after having has a close incounter with one, maybe because it was trained. Yes we are all getting older, but I have you beat my friend. |

Yes George and so are many of the rest of us and me too!! I remember all of that. Even Jacq Custoe? Is that the right spelling. I used to be just spell bound over that show. I thought the article said there was no outward damage....like a boat ramming it. I can understand the dolphin's pushing it away tho. Is there any way the carcas can be made use of? Since it died I was wondering if they could do something with it other than just cart it off? Cricket that sounds wonderful. I'm sure it'll be tricky capturing her but well worth the effort if that's possible. Some truly generous people in the world when they are made aware of the needs. JANN....ANYTHING that big.....I'll stay out of it's way. Thank you very much. I may be over some things but that isn't one of the. R U feeling better? Hint hint hint....it's not very hot here!!!

I did not know that doves make a very different sound when they fly than when they are just perched until I moved here. It does not sound like the gentle coo coo they make while perched. Very strange unless I'm wrong about the bird. Sure looks like a dove when flying. Got to get ready to meander up to Ojai. The group has grown to six of us....woo hoo. Should be fun. Check in later on or tomorrow.

Something I've been wondering about lately...do hummingbirds take bird baths like so many other birds? I have two bird baths...one quite large, about 3 ft. off the ground under trees but other than that, pretty much out in the open and this one attracts the large birds, RTH, crows and mourning doves. My other one is much more shallow... 3 inches off above the ground...only about 1 inch of water...and is somewhat hidden under the bushes. This one attracts the smaller birds and is always in use...the only thing is, I have never seen a hummingbird using it but they are in the area. Chiquita |

home from scout meeting - couple anxious parents - bored boys! LOL I saw the shark on the news - they said it was probably sick... ![]() yes not threat to humans and it came ashore farther east than us..... remember we have over 125 miles of ocean front beaches (and then there's all the north short beach on the Sound - hmmm wait - we're an Island so I guess technically it's all beach ....... all the way around)
