I have seen hummers bathing in the bird bath. They also will fly through our gentle sprinkler when it is on.

We have tons of hummers here. In our yard we see black chinned, broad tailed, rufous and even the calliope (which is only rarely seen in New Mexico).

Calliope .....................................................................................................Rufous

Both of these are males. I have trouble telling the females apart sometimes.

CatM - I love it!  Solar powered! :)^   Does it have an area you can fill with water - or do you have to have it hooked up to a water source?

You put water in the larger bowl and the pump brings it up to upper bowl, which overflows back into the larger bowl. DH fills it up every few days, unless it rains.

Could you email me the name of the store. That is perfect for what I need! Thanks!

Ditto for me too catM :)^

Ditto, ditto for me, too!

Something I've been wondering about lately...do hummingbirds take bird baths like so many other birds? I have two bird baths...one quite large, about 3 ft. off the ground under trees but other than that, pretty much out in the open and this one attracts the large birds, RTH, crows and mourning doves. My other one is much more shallow... 3 inches off above the ground...only about 1 inch of water...and is somewhat hidden under the bushes. This one attracts the smaller birds and is always in use...the only thing is, I have never seen a hummingbird using it but they are in the area.

Chiquita

Chiquita, I have never seen them in the bird bath but when I am sprinkling with the hose, they will run back and forth through the water, sometimes stopping to get soaked....

The peacocks are losing their beautiful tail feathers... I love looking for them.. some are better than others...it also means they will be less noisey ... they seem to calm down when their feathers are gone.. nothing to scream about I guess...
