Eaglepedia Revisited

March 2, 2008

Part II - How Arizona Tracks It's Juvenile Eagles:

Below is a link to the transmittal information page of the juveniles that they were tracking over a number of years in Arizona. The period covers juvenile bald eagles from 2002, 2003, 2004-2005. Information is provided as to sex/age and location and a link where you can see each particular bird's map of travel! For 2003 - they provided a link to the Tracking Data Spreadsheet (the information as they receive it) and you could do your own "migration" map!

"HOW TO USE THE TRACKING DATA

We are now entering the second year in our study into the migration of juvenile and sub-adult bald eagles fledged in Arizona. This breeding season we are going to supplement our migration maps with spreadsheets that will allow the individual user of this website to plot the locations themselves. This new feature will allow you to keep track of each eagle's migration on your own without having to rely on us to update the maps. In order to access the data click on the 'Migration Tracking Data Spreadsheet' Link for the Eagle that you wish to track . Once you have the latitude and longitude in decimal format, you can then go to either "MapQuest" or "Topozone" to map that particular location. "

Check it out - very interesting as to where these young bald eagles wandered. Considering that all came from the same area, their travels certainly took them in all different directions!

Hi there Jann! :}^ How are you doing? Hope you are getting a break from the heat there. Here, it just keeps going and going and going...

Have to run off this morning on a project. Really feel wiped but got something to eat and took a couple of asprin (in the green bottle w/caffine, asprin and tylenol). Got up early to have time to become "human" and check in. Think I will come home and take a nap later. :)^

Prayers and hugs too for Momkat and Laurie. And to all others having health issues, :Hugs: :Hugs: :Hugs: :Hugs: Hang in there - :X: it will get better soon.

Wrong Way Corrigan Day

Douglas “Wrong Way” Corrigan was an American aviator who in 1938, after a transcontinental flight from Long Beach, California, to New York, flew from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, to Ireland, even though he was supposed to be returning to Long Beach. He claimed that his unauthorized flight was due to a navigational error, caused by heavy cloud cover that obscured landmarks and low-light conditions, causing him to misread his compass.

Corrigan’s “error” caught the imagination of the American public and inspired many jokes. The nickname “Wrong Way’ Corrigan” passed into common use and is still mentioned (or used as satire) when someone has the reputation for taking the wrong direction.
