No, not yet. Going to make an app't with a vet on Mon. She needs to be checked out anyway and get her shots, etc. |

Karen, it is good to have her checked out. Normally, a kitten can be spayed/neutered as early as 8 weeks. For many years, veterinarians were taught that cats and dogs had to be a year old to be spayed or neutered. Later, they were taught that six months was appropriate. Today we know that kittens and pups can be spayed or neutered at the age of two months (or two pounds). The American Veterinary Medical Association has endorsed this practice called Early Age Neutering; the animals recover more quickly from surgery when they are young. Today some vets will spay/neuter at eight weeks of age, while others adhere to the old practice of six months of age. The average age at which pets are spayed or neutered is four months. So I guess it is up to your vet. |

That is good to know. Thanks catM! I hope my vet will be of the early age thinking  As much as I always tried to keep my other cats inside (other than Mao) they seemed to always manage to scoot out a time or 2 and 2 of the ones I used to have ended up pregnant  I don't want to add to the kitty population. |

Karen they are probably baby red pandas which are also endangered The Red Panda is endemic to the Himalayas, ranging from Nepal in the west to China in the east. It is also found in northern India, Bhutan and northern Myanmar. There is an estimated population of fewer than 2,500 mature individuals. Their population continues to decline due to habitat fragmentation. Image and text from Wikipedia |

Penny...I would think they would have said red pandas. When people say panda everyone thinks of the giant pandas. Dumb reporters  |

Penny is right. Here is the headline for another story: "Dog nurses newborn red pandas at zoo in China". It was the same story, but the only one that said red panda. I agree, when someone says "panda", I think giant panda. That kitten is so funny trying to kept the cat in the mirror from getting her toy.

Wednesday is very cute Karen. Your portrait of her is lovely...her eyes are not red so I'm guessing you didn't use a flash when you took it Love those blue eyes too I find it so hard to take good pictures of Siobhan where her eyes look 'normal'. I get a lot with that devil look but I don't have photoshop so right now I can't fix them

Penny...do you have windows? My windows program has a feature that fixes red eyes. My kitties eyes are actually green but her pupils were so large in that pic that you can't see much green. And the blue is light into the black pools. |
