More drama at Sidney last night ![]() Evakik wrote: 8:48pm Tiny gets up and stretches wings beautifully and gets on rim at 5:00. Does another wing stretch for a few seconds, feeling the wind, and then the camera freezes. I heard a crash like maybe the rim was loose and he was gone. Find a safe place to sleep tonight SWEET TINY!! Birdsie wrote: I was watching when it happened Tiny was up and catching his wings in the strong wind. He made a false start at 11:00, almost went over the edge and came back. While standing at 6:00, he jumped like he was going to fly and he stumbled, dragging all the top sticks off the nest. He went down at 6:00 with crashing noises. I did not see him fly after that and there were no calls. No calls or eagles have been seen on the nests since this happened !!! Isn't it too early for all of them to go North? ![]() Edit: Juvie calls now heard near the old nest since 6:30 AM

Trish - I started watching, and found it fascinating how, when she returned to the nest, she seemed to be using her feet to "redecorate the inside of the nest". I did a short video if anyone is interested. (No mirror spotted as yet)

haven't read up this AM yet - busy starting to pack for my troop's summer camp outing starting next weekend! and of course my personal gear ...... and check ins by Phil and ES! They are on the road to Bandelier - an awesome site of cliff dwellings which you can actually climb up into! with a short hike to the ceremonial area as well. Then after lunch they will be kayaking! But for now..... on the road again and Phil is keeping an eye out now don't know for what - their safety? road kill ? hmmmm

That was fascinating to me Marti because she was hacking up some saliva and rubbing it around the outside of the nest to solidify its shape

Carole - So happy all the eaglets/fledgings are doing so well - going to be hard when they have all fledged and nests are empty. Penny - Sure hope Sweet Tiny is OK - hope his parents are OK - that is a long time to go without anything to eat. Marti - WOW! those balloon outfits are incredible - have not seen anything like those in balloon twisting - usually just a simple sword or dog - simple things. Am enjoying the Walter Cronkite special this AM - what a great journalist and anchor - I remember so many of the broadcasts he did. Couldn't believe the newspaper article that NASA actually taped over the July 20, 1969 moon landing - Hollywood came to the rescue of improving on the tape they have. Just saw on TV that in Norway or Sweden news anchors are known as Cronkiters and in Germany they are known as Kronkiters - Walter set the standard and his name is now attached to the true meaning of an anchor news person. My DD was 1 month and 12 days old but I held on my lap to watch that historic event - even at that age I didn't want her to miss it - not that she remembers but she has always had an interest in all the space flights that followed continuing today. Have a great day everyone - thoughts of healing to Jann, Sharon, Laurie, and Hulabirdie. Was so happy to hear from you Hula after Topa/Cathy posted her get-well card - Oh what delightful memories of your visit with us on the main land. Hiker - what a fantastic shot the photographer took of the Brig Pilgrim - thanks for sharing. |
