Good morning from a rain day in Philly.

Tody is National Junk Food Day. Today is my kind of day with Philly Pretzles, Hot Dogs, Cheese Fries and Pepsi.

Vickie CONGRATULATIONS on your 5,000 Post's. Way to go girl! :><: : :><: :><: :><: :><:

LaLa loved the story of the bigger pup wanting you to see his toy. That was adorable, and I would have had ears in my eyes.

[Quote: Sandie] - There are currently 51 units at hwy 33 (it's closed) at Shell road. Bad grass fire. It started out with about 40 units. It's hard on people that live in Ojai....33 is about the only way in and out.[/quote]

Wanted to bring this forward from last night. I think everyone had gone to bed. I hope all is well. :X: Any updates?

About the Ojai fire near the freeway.. pretty sure road is open this morning.. DH just left for Malibu so he will let me know in a few minutes....paper said 25% contained at 9:00 last night so must be about out... the valley is full of smoke... had to have windows open because of the heat last night and had to deal with the smoke smell...better than running A/C all night... so now we will have a really hot and smoky day... :8O:

Clear sailing into Ventura.. no fire trucks in sight..

We have baby birds in the birdhouse... the flycatchers must have been further along with their nesting than I thought.. Just saw one go into box with a beak-ful and lots of chirping...my DH has a long cable with a camera and light on the end that he uses to see into impossible spaces I will try and get a picture of the babies in the nest this afternoon... :><:

Lala :}^ - we have a lot of grassy areas around here. It's scarey when all of a sudden you see this tall plume of black smoke nearby. Hope they got it out.

This time of year, we constantly get winds from 20 to 30 mph (normal). Don't want any fires!

"Attack of the killer tomatoes !

They'll beat you, bash you, squish you, mash you
Chew you up for brunch and finish you off for dinner or lunch!
They're marching down the halls - They're
crawling up the walls.
They're gooey, gushy, squishy, mushy - Rotten to
the core
They're standing outside your door!

Thanks for telling us about this movie George.... I can't forget about it these days with my harvest... Will be making sauce today to freeze...

Good Luck E/S... Have fun with the Scouts!

THE SCOUTMASTER

There isn稚 any pay for you, you serve without reward,
The boys who tramp the fields with you but little could afford,
And yet your pay is richer than those who toil for gold,
For in a dozen different ways your service shall be told.

You値l read it in the faces of a Troop of growing boys,
You値l read it in the pleasure of a dozen manly joys,
And down the distant future you will surely read it then,
Emblazoned thru the service of a band of loyal men.

Five years of willing labor and of brothering a Troop,
Five years of trudging highways, with the Indian cry and whoop,
Five years of camp fires burning, not alone for pleasure痴 sake,
But the future generation which the boys are soon to make.

They have no gold to give you, but when age comes on to you,
They値l give you back the splendid things you taught them how to do,
They値l give you rich contentment and a thrill of honest pride,
And you値l see your nation prosper, and you値l all be satisfied.
