Speaking of rain. Wind has started up here and it looks like we are in for a storm so I am going to shut down the computer. Have a great evening, all.

Ah ok, years ago i was with my father who was on a business trip to RCA in Van Nuys and he took me to see the Rat Kingdom in Anahiem and also to Knotts Berry Farm. This had to have been almost 40 years ago for sure. I do remember the name of a street i thought was odd at the time however but know know it for a famous dr demento show favorite, good ole "Sepulveda Bvd" as in the tune by felix figuroa titled "Pico and Sepulveda". <~~~La Brea Tar Pitts! TAR PITTS! Is pico named for the type font from the good ole ibm selectric typewrites of the good ole days? |

http://alumni.humboldt.edu/s/857/index.asp...&gid=1&pgid=316 There is a great story in Humboldt Magazine, Fall 2008.. about David Garcelon and how he began saving eagles.. I can't paste it here for some reason, but if you go to the Fall 2008 issue and download it .. you can read his story.. He went to Humboldt, graduationg in 1981 with his personal "to-do list": Help Get Bald Eagles Off the Endangered Species List...great pictures as well... My two adorable nephews are going there this fall and sent me the magazine... |

Hello I'm up on Lake Mary with the grandsons so haven't had a moment until now to get online. The eagles are back on Lake Mary. The day before yesterday we were watching the male perched on a branch on the ridge above the lake when the female came flying low right above us. :soar: She landed on a snag just about 50 yards behind the cabin. I grabbed the binocs and could see that she was eating a fish. I finally thought of trying to take a picture but by the time I got the camera she decided to leave but flew right over us. The kids were really excited. Little Adam kept calling "eagle, Bama, eagle, Bama" Yesterday when we were out in the boat on the lake the male few over us twice. Very exciting. |

Katie, you know how jealous we all are... I took DH to Lake Mary in June and we got out and walked around.. looking for your house with the flower boxes.. couldn't find... but just a wonderful little jewel of a lake and now your eagles are back... :soar: :soar:

Hiker, you might make that a trip with your little kids.. the girls loved all the animal exhibits...but the Chumash Room is for us....they have recordings of some of the ancestors talking in their language and singing as well... Julie Tumamait's picture was in one of the exhibits as a local ancestor.. the girls wanted to know why they didn't have much clothing on... but Sasha announced she would love to eat acorns all day and fish and run around with next to nothing on..

MY-T-FINE!!! On the bfly shots! well done!!! Theyre not as easy to shoot as one would think they should be. I have ran all over the yard here just to get a shot of ONE butterfly. Not sure who was more tired the butterfly or myself Of course then i discovered the indoor butterfly exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences here in Philly which made it a little easier
