Penny, thanks for the Bandit upates.

I just finished reading about David Garcelon in the Humboldt Magazine. A most enjoyable article. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I just snagged this photo of the Delta nest showing a before
and after view of the difference where the branch snapped off.
Look at the right side of the tree.

Carole a very similar thing just happened yesterday at the 'new' Sidney nest, the one in the dead pine snag. :o

Sounds Like We Lost A Branch

Apparently when the temperatures are so high for such a prolonged period, it causes extra stresses on the trees and it is not at all uncommon for them to lose big branches suddenly.
I wonder if this is what happened to the tree Bandit was in

The noise of the branch falling so startled all the birds in the area that everything went silent for a bit until Tiny came screeching back into the nest  I'm just glad the branch with the camera didn't come off :)^

I found these special ones when I searched for feather paintings. I couldn't resist! The page also has a lot of other special effect paintings. Incredible site! (This site was at the top of the search list) Did you notice what insigna is on the bottom of the second one? :D

Penny - Here is a new interesting post from the Hancock Delta forum.......

"I haven't been active here on this thread but wanted to comment on the falling of the tree limb. We have a beautiful Liquid Amber tree in our front yard.... probably about 40ft tall.... Last year during a yard sale no less!.....we heard a crack, just about the same as what happened at Delta today.... and down came a huge limb! Moments later a second! Fortunately no one standing below was hurt. My nephew who is a tree surgeon came over and explained that this happens during the summer time when heat exhaustion causes the limbs to snap."

We have just had what must be our tenth downpour since this morning :o It totally pours in heavy sheets for a few minutes, then the sun comes out for a few minutes, then the clouds roll in again and then another downpour

It is just the weirdest thing...My rainbarrel was filled up days ago so I guess I need to go put out another one, although maybe not...there is too much water in the ground already for the plants...no nice plump tomatoes here Linda
