I also got a blue ribbon in my creative writning and 2 second place ribbons and I think it was three honorable mentions. This year the creative writing judges were really hard. Some entries they didn't even give a first second or third!!!

Thanks a lot guys. I bet Lala will get a ton of blue ribbons. I can't wait til we hear how she did. The photo dept judges are there tomorrow. Then they said it takes them three days to hang them all. I can imagine.

We have just had what must be our tenth downpour since this morning :o It totally pours in heavy sheets for a few minutes, then the sun comes out for a few minutes, then the clouds roll in again and then another downpour

I'm with you, Penny. Nothing but rain here in Colorado Springs. I hate to complain since water is normally scarce, but some sun please? My veggie garden and flowers would really appreciate it!

Sandie CONGRATULATIONS on your 2nd Place Ribbon for the afghan. :><:

Very nice pictures posted today. :)^

Peetie it was good to see you in here for a little while. Unfortunately I missed talking to you once again and all I get to say is Sweet Dreams my friend. :Zz:

Maria is with John John at Pediactric's After Hours again. This time he had the wrapper to a battery in his mouth. It never ends! If John would only stay in the house instead of going out to work on his train set, while Maria is cooking it would be so much easier on her. She gets tired too after working all day now and she doesn't stop till 10 when she goes to bed!

I think I'll make some of my Cheese Cake Tarts some plain some with blueberries, cherries, strawberries, Raspberries, and Blackberries. For those who come to the Pa. Easties Gathering in September.

Maria said it happened at the Day Care where John John goes. He had a piece of metal from around the battery on his gum. He is not going to the hospital. The Day Care will be hearing from Maria tomorrow since she will not be going into work.

Well sorry to hear about hte battery problem. I hope there wasnt any of the internal chemicals of the battery's innards on the metal. That would have been horrible.

I can see why the center could be blamed . However as a two year old i have found out that No matter how much supervision we get,the moment the eyes are off things happen.

Oh all the mischeif i got into at that age despite being watched like hawk, rofl

Well, i am tired and am going to call it a night. I hope i can find my blanky now under all my toys strewn about the playroom rofl

NYTOL :}^

<::: I'm only twee years old! one!!...Too!---TWEE!

Posted Image Sandie - Congratulations on your ribbons! Good job! But as excited as we all are to hear how Lala's photos do, I hope you're not planning on announcing that here - I bet she'd rather do that herself.

<::: Update from Bev at O.W.L.

Bandit is being kept in the Intensive Care area overnight so that they can get a fecal sample to check him for worms, etc. tomorrow. This is a quiet area so that he can relax overnight.

In a day or two he will be moved to the Interim cage area and likely be kept there for up to two weeks. Bev said Bandit's wing muscles are a bit thin and weak due to not having the area to exercise them. While in Interim care he will have the opportunity to exercise for strength and put on some weight.

After the two weeks are up he'll move to Flight Training and be put into the flight cages. This cage is the length of a football field with lots of area for flying.

Once he's ready he'll be released.

As you notice I'm saying HE again. (don't shoot the messenger )
Bev said he's a big eagle but his feet are small so he could possibly be a male.
Tomorrow they will measure his feet which is an indication of sex.

More updates likely tomorrow.

<::: Another Update on Bandit from Bev at O.W.L.

Sheesh, it's not even tomorrow yet

I sent Bev a few questions that have been asked from forum members and she emailed me back.

#1 Has Bandit been fed yet ?

"Bandit already has food put in his cage in Intensive right now. We want to do a fecal (testing for worms) It is easier to collect feces in a smaller cage as opposed to larger where it spreads out more and we can't get a good sample."

#2 Where will Bandit be kept after Intensive care ?

"He will go to outside interim first as his main problem is not having enough muscle mass on his wings He will be there for at least a week or or two depending on how fast he builds muscle mass up."

#3 Male or Female ?

"I know you've been told female but I held him and pretty sure male I will check feet again tomorrow and let you know for sure. Why they look bigger as youngsters is there is no visual break from head to foot as where adults have white head and tail which disrupts our vision".

#4 Can Bandit be given a red band with black lettering ?

"We are not allowed to put different bands on the birds other than government bands as these are issued federally ".

#5 Does Bandit look malnourished ?

"No. He had to have been fed earlier than mornings than people where seeing or he would have been a lot skinnier."

"He is heathier than Dan was --- no mites on feathers but as I said he does need to build wing muscles up. I was hoping to release in 2 weeks but I would say possibly a month unless he exercises faster than I expect him to.

He also will go in with an adult eagle to keep him company who has had a few of the other juvies with her already. "

Bev

REQUESTED BY O.W.L. --- Visits to Bandit will not be allowed. He is wild and in order to remain so human contact will be limited to feedings and examinations only by staff.
