:bday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETSY Hoping your day is extra special. :bday:

:bday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY IGGLES May your wishes come true. :bday:

I was awakened early this morning too with Thunder, Lightening, and rain you would not believe. Thank goodness it's stopped now.

We have a Party to go to this afternoon. I made my Red Salsa, which I let go in the Food Processor too long. Also Wegmans Crushed Tomatoes looks like a puree to me. I also did the Mango Salsa, and I think I'll just take that one, unless Ken says to take both.

Deb sorry you had to return home to heartache.

John John may be developing an abscess that could close off his airway so he has to see the Pediatric Dentist tomorrow. This is from the battery wrapper he had in his mouth from the Day Care! His voice is still hoarse. It never ends.

Oh Topa, I know how happy you are in going to see your family soon. It's so hard being so very far apart I know. I wish mine were closer to me. I'm contemplating moving down South so I can see them every day. I miss everything with the Grand-children the first tooth etc.. I love the short Winters, and the Early Spring. Oh I forgot all the Southern Food too! I would learn to deal with the Humidity just to have my family close by.

Oh the Salsa isn't old I just made it fresh yesterday to allow all the flavors to marinate overnight. They are both yummy.

From Doug Carrick on Saturday

"I fed the eagles this morning at 9:00 pm - a 3-pound chunk of hallibut I've had in the freezer, ready for when it might be needed. Listening to Hope yesterday, I thought that now might be the time.

Just before 9:00 am the male flew by, continuing into the bay and the female landed in the Peters' tree. I rushed to the deck, waved the fish back and forth, and made three sharp whistles. Ma Hornby responded with three screeches of her own and then singnalled Pa Hornby and Hope.

Just as I was throwing the fish onto the beach, Pa Hornby swished by, almost grabbing it out of my hands. Ma Hornby followed immediately, snapping up a chunk that had broken off.

A few minutes later Pa appeared in the nest along with the desperately hungry Hope. She had a super meal and for the first time in a while, there was silence - the silence of a full stomach.

Some people feel we shouldn't interfere in nature by feeding birds of any kind. But mankind is the greatest interference there is in nature. We have caused hundreds of species to become extinct each year. We have depleted the Georgia Strait of 80% of the fish stocks, once available for the eagles. Is it wrong therefore, to counter this trend by occasionally feeding the eagles?"

Screencap by Edi

Parent tricks Hope, lures her to the nest, stomps on the Halibut, Hope grabs it and parent is off the nest.

Hope gets the Halibut

More than 4 trips were made to the nest yesterday with NO food drop for Hope who was screeching practically all day long for food. Because of the extremely hot weather, prey animals are only out and about at night or very early in the AM making it very hard for the Hornby pair to get enough food right now :o
