Ojai :clk: lala, I'd be thrilled to get a second place and honorable mention.

When I went to the Citrus Classic Hot Air Balloon Festival,
I was really surprised at the high tech expensive camera
equipment everyone was carrying.

The digital camera boom and photoshop computer programs
have become a number one hobby for people. :clk:
I bet the judges were dizzy with all the entries this year.

We know your Blue Ribbon ( excellent ) and you know your Blue Ribbon..
I'd like to see what the judges were looking for this year.

Here's a close up of the Citrus Classic. Is everyone with the press?

:}^ Peeps, I just got caught up on Chat today and I am 'too pooped to pop' after a day of yard work  The fence guys had to wait for the Barkman guys and they didn't quite get things finished so there will be more goings on tomorrow :<::

The look of the yard and the house has changed completely from the back :( but I will plant some replacement trees after the fence is up and in a year or two :<:: it should look much better. There are enough :clk: :clk: s on here today from George
and soon Linda will add hers...can't wait for those, so I will do a slideshow of the whole change later this weekend :D

Thanks for posting the info about the San Diego Zoo panda birth Kathie :**: :><: :><: :**:
I never even checked there today :P

Sandie good things come to those who wait. So happy for you that you will get to do your table setting after all :ok:

Went on a field trip today with 30 kids to the Padre/Braves game. Padres lost 6-2 :( but Will Venaldi got a home run! Wooohooo! That was exciting! But we were so far away from the action that I couldn't really concentrate on the game. Couldn't hear anything going on...no "strike 1!!" or "Ball!" Padres were up last and the last player to bat broke his bat hitting the ball and half the bat flew across the pitcher's mound into the infield. My group of kids that sat with me didn't really watch much. And they were up and down the stairs to the bathroom 8 MILLION times and if I never see another set of stairs for as long as I live it will be too soon!! rofl rofl rofl I am TIRED! Just thankfully we were not in the sun all day!

Anyway, here's Petco Park. Didn't include any pics of the kids since this is the internet and I don't have parents' permission.

Yes the advent of digital photography to "working professionals" has been both a blessing and a curse. Wedding photographers often refer to those weddings who do not hire a professional because "uncle joe" takes such great shots.

The problem is that just because one shoots great snapshots of the kids or their pets or at parties that doesnt mean they are capapble of shooting a wedding. I know of many pro shooters who refer to those folks as an AWACs. ("Amateurs With A Camera").

When one hires a wedding photographer its not their camera you are paying for but thier experience with the task of shooting weddings. It is not just sitting in the pew at church shooting the bride marching down the isle or some shots of the partiers at the reception. The "formals" that are considered the bread and butter shots of many newlyweds are not as easy at one would think. One gets what they pay for alas and sometimes you get what you pay for. While asking a friend or relation to shoot your wedding or shooting a wedding for a friend may be done with the best of intentions, if anything were to go wrong with the finished shots you can really ruin a friendship.

The creation of Photoshop has been a godsend to the working pros because it cuts down the time spent by the shooter in the darkroom making the finished prints or the cost of paying a GOOD lab to print out the shots. Often times one can see a big difference in shots printed at a pro lab vs those printed at the local Wall-Mart or Walgreens. From a professional standpoint the time saved from being in the darkoom can be more effectively used shooting another assignment.

To sum things up, you often get what you pay for and if you do not have a person with the proper experience shooting such an event of importances as your, your daughters or your son's wedding you can really stir up a hornets nest.

Just throwing in my two cents here as you would be surprised how many think they can shoot a specific type of event because they can shoot other unrelated types of shots only to really regret it. Espeically if you are the shooter and end up having the event be a "Bridezilla-Frankengroom" wedding from Heck.

:BX:

(I run from any and all weddings especially my own as fast as is humanly possible in the opposite direction. Especially if it is my own wedding) rofl

Well you can see that i am still awake. I tried but for some reason i can not sleep and i think its from the medication i took for my foot pain. So, i may be awake with you all a tad later tonight
