Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day Buy anything lately? Did you ever succeed in getting the durn thing open? What do older people do when even mainstream society can’t open a simple bottle of aspirin, let alone a milk carton? ![]() Well today highlights the problem with the predominately preposterous packaging we’ve all encountered. Bulletproof plastic? What moron thought of that? Inquiring minds want to know - why? |

ealgepedia revisited July 31, 2007 Internal Power System - large birds use extra energy to take off while small birds use their energy to keep warm! They need efficient energy supplies for their bodies and yet still be lightweight! As warm blooded animals, they must maintain a constant body temperature. All the inside organs of a bird run at high speed which makes for high energy and warmth, but shortens the life span of the bird. The kinds of foods eaten by birds must be "high-octane", high in calories. They are seeds, nuts, fruits, fish, and rodents. The speed at which a hummingbird burns its food is 50 times greater than man. At night a bird must rest and their body functions slow down. A hummingbird would starve to death at night if his heart, respiration, and body temperature did not slow down. <a href='http://wings.avkids.com/Book/Animals/inter...e/birds-01.html' target='_blank'>http://wings.avkids.com/Book/Animals/inter...e/birds-01.html</a> ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

Zoo Atlanta Panda Behavior Update  ![]() Wednesday, August 5 Some of you may recall that I wrote about providing scent enrichment for the pandas a few weeks ago. I described how certain scents elicit self-anointing behavior from Lun Lun, Yang Yang and even Xi Lan; however, Mei Lan has never exhibited this behavior in response to scent enrichment. Until now. Last week, she was given mouthwash on an ice block and for some reason she started self-anointing with the scented ice block! It was odd but, also exciting at the same time! Why did she suddenly show an interest in this scent? Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to that, but I did try a little experiment. I wondered if Mei Lan responded to the scent because it was offered on an ice block, because she does like ice and plays with it whenever she gets it. Or perhaps it was just a fluke. So, today, I put a puddle of mouthwash in her overnight den and waited to see her reaction. To my surprise and enjoyment, she stuck her nose in the puddle, sneezed, and then rubbed some of the mouthwash on her head. She made another swipe at her head with her mouthwash-soaked paw and started to walk away. Or so I thought. She turned and flopped herself down in the puddle and started rolling in the mouthwash, using both paws to rub it on her head. she spent over five minutes playing in the mouthwash puddle. It was fantastic! I don't know if this means she will now be interested in other scents, but I do know there's at least one scent that she seems to enjoy. I have a dear friend/patient who needs all of our help here in Chat. Her name is Elaine Y, and she signed up here, but has not been able to Post yet. She has Cancer of the Bladder, and is going in for her 4th operation on the 18th of this month. Please everyone light daily for her, and send Healing, Positive thoughts her way. She has given up all hope in beating this terrible disease, and does believe in the Power of Prayer. I know we can change things for her. I feel very strongly about this. Thanks in advance.

catM. I believe the answer to that is 'theft prevention' I was grocery shopping last night and picked up a bottle of vanilla extract. When the cashier placed it in my bag, the top came off in her hands and some spilled out, so I went to get another one...checked the cap and sure enough it had been opened too...I think someone has been taking a little nip in the baking aisle They need to move that stuff to a higher shelf and just so you Americans can appreciate this more, liquor is not allowed to be sold in grocery stores anywhere in Canada

Cricket, my thoughts and prayers are with Elaine. Penny, I can fully understand theft protection, but some of the packages are really impossible to open. DH got me a new pair of binoculars Wednesday and it took even him about 10 minutes to open it and he used a box knife. I never would have been able to open it. |

Good morning Peeps. Just returned from the Eye Clinic where DH had his second cataract surgery and lens implant. Everything went well! They allowed me to come into an area to watch the surgery on a large screen TV, WOW, it was so amazing to see. Now I have to go and spoil Alan and make him something to eat. Tomorrow morning back to the clinic for a check-up. Will be back later.
