I figured it was well past time that I made my appearance on the Chat Forum. So many Cruzers are on Facebook and have had opportunity to read my posts since returning from the hospital after 23 days on July 30. Those of you who don't know, I went in for bilateral joint knee replacement surgery on July 8. I was way ahead in PT in the Acute Rehab Unit and preparing to go home July 17, when they found staph infection in both knees on the 16th. A major blow, and although they put me on strong antiobiotics right away, I had to wait thru that week end for my surgeon to find out what happened. Unfortunately, the doctor in charge did not bother to tell him or come to see me. My surgeon redid the right knee that night and I spent 3 more days in the hospital. Then back to the Rehab Unit where progress made was extremely slow and disappointing. Since I have been home, I am on 3 daily antibiotics, one of them IV adminstered by my Tom, which make me feel weak and depressed, low appetite and sometimes nauseous. I have to stay on them until Aug. 31, a long haul. Good news is the antibiotics seem to be doing their job, altho my knees are sore and stiff, but they are healing well. Thank goodness for friends on FB and elsewhere who have rallied and keep in touch with me. I miss my usual social life and just plain getting out. I have had a nurse come in to change my Picc line dressing once a week, and PT will begin in earnest in a couple of weeks or so. Many of you have sent caring messages, and I am very grateful. Thank you so much. Vina

Vina so good to see you Posting. Certainly sounds like you had a tough ordeal, but glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Rest when you can, and do your exercises faithfully. Hopefully the worst is behind you now. It's full steam ahead!

The big storm turned out to be a whimpy one. Only a few drops of rain fell. Thank Goodness. |

Don't know why its quiet either, but I sure get lots of work done when it is... I have to replant my coleus plants under the birdbath.. I had it perfect and was really happy with how pretty they looked and then came outside yesterday morning and found that the raccoons had a party at the bird bath and fell all over the plants, breaking off MOST of them...they are quite fragile and just could not handle the party/fight... will wait a few days and start over...raccoons are really nasty when fighting each other. |

Thanks, everyone, for your caring thoughts and messages. Jillers and Bigbird sent me e-mails too. I feel loved and supported. Just what the doctor ordered!
