eaglepedia revisited January 24, 2008 There are distinct differences in foraging behavior between juveniles and adults. Immatures apparently develop hunting skills slowly and must learn to locate reliable food sources and master feeding techniques. Consequently, young eagles are wanderers, foraging over wide areas and often feed upon easily acquired foods such as carrion, spawning salmon, and fish found in abundance at the mouths of streams. Adults lead a more predatory lifestyle, hunting live prey in localized territories. Bald eagles are often seen perched atop tall tres where they have a commanding view of their surroundings and can locate prety efficiently. Once an eagle spots its prey, it swoops down in a shallow glide and throws its feet forward to grasp the prey in its talons, sometimes reaching several inches below the surface of the water. Eagles typically carry the prey back to a favorite perch where they eat it. http://www.evostc.state.ak.us/Universal/Do...N_baldeagle.pdf ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

Sandie - congratulations on your PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD!! See yours stood out! ----- George, any acts against animals, children, and the elderly - to name a few - are in an entirely different class and there should be a ZERO tolerance for those who commit those acts. Even more so by any person who's in a position to influence, be idolized or lead by example- like a pro athlete, public official, police officer, soldier, etc. I would say the same for that firefighter who tied his dog up in his basement and shot it to death because he didn't want to pay boarding fees while he was away on a cruise. How disgusting!! |

Sandie The people 'Rule' ![]() We all knew you were going to be the Winner. Congratulations As far as the judges comments about the centerpiece being too close to one diner.... hello your entry was on a much smaller table so they should have taken that into consideration. ![]() Your presentation is really gorgeous What did you have in the picture frame? HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jossylen Blow those candles out and hope your wish comes true! I never heard the story of the Fireman and his dog. I think we should all write a strongly worded letter or send e-mail to TPTB for the Phila. Eagles expressing our displeasure on signing Vick. He got off way too light as far as I'm concerned. To have him on our Team just makes me sick. |

Sandie I saw that Centerpiece too, but if I were at that table I'd just be extra careful as to not knock it off. The Judges critique everything. It's their job. Don't allow it to bother you. The Peoples Choice is what count's really. If they love it enough for you to see blue, that's all that counts. |

Actually, the Columbus, Ohio firefighter killed two dogs. Here's a link to the story, tough to read: http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/08/firefighter.kills.dogs/ |
