Hi Everyone! Been lurking and busy with work....

Hopefully, I won't be drawing the wrath of everyone here in chat, but I thought I'd add something for consideration to the discussion of the Michael Vick situation. I agree with everyone here that what he did was horrible and unconscionable. Part of his "rehab" is working with the Humane Society of the United States and speaking out against dog fighting. If I'm not mistaken his involvement is not voluntary and is part of his probation and his conditional playment agreement with the NFL. He has expressed his remorse and although I have an incredibly difficult time in seeing him play football again for any team, maybe his speaking out against dog fighting and animal cruelty will make a difference for the good. And there's no denying that someone like him as a football "celebrity" could possibly bring a lot of needed attention to dog fighting and cruelty issues. One thing is for sure, he will always be reminded of what he did and he will never be able to forget what he did.

I received an e-mail from the Humane Society about this today. There's just a screw lose in someone who can slam a dog against a wall cause it didn't win. He's one sicko, and I hope the fans boo him continuously. Maybe the opposing team will tackle him good and hard and end his miserable career. As I mentioned, I have zero tolerance for animal abuse.

Now, Hey Jules, it was great meeting you and your husband at the last picnic. Can't wait for Cruzer party time again in the spring. Hope you two are doing well in beautiful Orange County. :)^

I'm with you Vicki, no tolerance, no excuse for cruelty like that. Jules, I can understand that perspective if it were something like a lapse in judgment or temper, but it takes a complete lack of compassion and respect for life to do what he did. You don't just wake up one day and all of a sudden have it! I think his comments and gestures of remorse are insincere and self-serving.

I think his comments and gestures of remorse are insincere and self-serving.

This is my suspicion as well given the economics of professional sports. Alas, only time will prove or disprove his sincerity. Crud i think other sports have had their fair share of scallywag stars.

I know at the time The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Alan Iverson there was some criticism because he was convicted as a juvenile for manslaughter if memory serves me. However later this conviction was overturned on some basis technicality or genuine.

The dont call the philly fans up in the stands who boo and jeer for the slightest misplay will have alot to holler about when he appears on the field. Here they are called "The Boo Birds"
