Reposting this in memory of and tribute to our beloved Limuw – Limuw captured my heart in ways no other eagle has. I found this post last winter in the 5/20/08 Chat at 3:08PM (on page 13), posted by Cathie/bigbird the day after Spirit and Skye were knocked off the nest. This amazing compilation was composed by our own JudyB. It contains a tribute that was put together after Limuw left us, and I marked it at the time I saw it. I do not recall anyone really "picking up on it" and mentioning it again. Maybe it was lost at the time (5/20/08) as all our focus and energy was concentrated on Spirit and Skye and their ordeal. It is something that I felt should be "brought forward." I wanted to share it again with all of you. (quote) 5/20/08 Cathie/bigbird posts: "Feeling sad about Limuw, I found this nicely done chronology of his life. It contains captures done by many of the IWS members. As usual all I can do is give you the link. So here it is: http://www.judyb-eagles.com/eagles2007/santa_cruz.htm (end quote) I hope everyone who loved Limuw saves this for future reference. |

PeepsThanks for the memories Bette
I didn't see Limuw until banding day so it is sweet to see the sequence of images and videos that JudyB has compiled from the IWS forum members in memory of him. RIP Limuw

There is another huge thunderstorm rolling through here right now with a most torrential downpour Lightning everywhere...I hope it doesn't have golf ball sized hail as one had the other day just 2 hours north of us. Talk about damaged vehicles I guess this means the walk and patio are going to be delayed yet again and that means the fence still can't get finished The City was going to start spraying Malathion because the mosquito population has jumped hugely with all this and heat. I guess that spray is going to kill all the dragonflys too, which hatched from the larvae introduced into ditches and stagnant water areas to control the mosquito population. It's a vicious circle. Luckily we will be south of the border when that happens

I also found this comment when perusing the Catalina tours threads. Kris and her DH took their tour in November 2007, after the Catalina fire during that summer - (quote) 11/11/07 Kris/circlescribe “I found myself pondering how ironic it was this fire had burned the power poles and cut the Catalina cameras off, resulting in the whole attention of the nest watching forum being focused on Limuw, who would so tragically, and prematurely be lost. It was as if he was given that special gift of everyone’s overflowing love and attention in advance of his ultimate sacrifice, that elevated him to a heroic and legendary status, and created such a poignant icon for the project that gave him life." (end quote) I know that life goes on, and as we do, we collectively pause and remember our sweet Limuw. :soar:

When I first joined this forum, I was fascinated, but not attached. When I read the stories of losses, I was sad...but dettached... Today, after going through the loss of the two little ones at PH...well, I look through different eyes. When I see this tribute to Limuw, remember what happened to Spirit and Skye.... my heart just breaks. I am connected! I feel a deep loss and sorrow and awe of Nature. Nature is beautiful but, at times, too real.....

My heart is heavy today, as it is two years since Limuw was taken away. I miss him terribly, and always will. He was an inspiration to me. I watched him since he was 1 day old. That is when the Cam Link was sent to me by a patient. I was hooked immediately. He won my heart, our dear sweet peeps. RIP
