Thank you KareninSoCal, for your comments. This is the first case of Alzheimers in our family/extended family so we aren't quite sure what to expect first hand. Like your grandfather, my grandmother's condition was known as senility... now Alzheimers...my mother and grandmother lived together so my mother took care of her until it got so bad that my mother was getting no sleep or rest during the day. At that point the Dr. stepped in and said "you have to begin to take care of yourself, you can't go on like this". It is a very sad thing to witness.

George, your flowers are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Well, I'm back and Molly, our dog, is gone. The vet said that it was either a stroke or an aneurysm. We discussed the options. This was SOOoo terrible! But she was in pain and couldn't even sit up or eat. My daughter Ginn and I were with her and held her. Our other dog, Sheba, is moping around. They were such pals for each other, for almost 11 years. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for your kind supportive comments. My love to all of you...Mina

Mina ... I am so sorry.

But you made sure that Molly did not suffer .... and that is the most important gift we can give to our beloved pets.

It will be strange for all of you ... especially Sheba ... but like I mentioned to KarenTX the other day ... when she too went through what you had to do today ... remember the happy times you had with Molly ... and those memories will comfort you at this sad time. :^^^::candle:

<::: Squish Fix

Posted Image

Friday, August 14

If you haven't noticed, Lun Lun and Xi Lan have been spending an abundant amount of time in the dayroom with the hammock. It's not that they prefer that dayroom, but instead, we had a problem with the other one. One of the legs on the climbing structure in the other dayroom broke at ground level. The structure was still solid enough for the adults to climb, but we weren't sure about Xi Lan. The problem was that we didn't want Xi Lan playing with the end of the broken leg and having Lun Lun climb up on the structure, pinching his paw or whatever else that was under the leg. Because the weather has been very hot lately, it has been difficult getting enough time in the dayroom to be able to replace the leg, because the pandas need the air conditioned space. The good news is, after weeks of searching for just the right log and having a nice cool morning, we were able to get the pandas outside and fix the structure on Thursday. I look forward to seeing Xi Lan and Lun Lun back in that dayroom today. It's always nice to see Xi Lan explore a new place, even if it isn't so new.

I stopped in because it is the anniversary of our beloved Limuw's passing and I wanted to be here with all his other friends, but it seems a melancholy day for others today too.

Mina, I am so sorry that you had to say goodbye to Molly. :Hugs:

Chiquita - My dad's wife passed away in March after suffering from Alzheimers for a number of years. I pray your family will receive the strength and support needed to deal with this awful disease. :Hugs:

It was healing to see the posts about our Limuw and a special thanks to Bette for finding and sharing JudyB's wonderful tribute to him. I watched him from the time he was one of two eggs in the Santa Cruz nest and he will always be "my" eagle.
