George, the Santa Barbara Fiesta really shows off the Spanish culture... ..

I can immagine! The thing ive noted when ive seen the latino events here in phily are the bright vibrant colors used in their native attire. While not a people shooter such events are a shooters dream :clk:

George they use to have many, many Shows at the Devon Fair Grounds. Years ago they had one for Arabian's, which was very colorful. You would have loved that. Then they had one for Morgan's, There was The American Gold Cup Grand Prix Jumping my hospital benefited from that one, And one for The American Quarter Horse. The place where Champions met. My favorite Class was the 5 Gaited American Saddlebred. I was offered a job at 18 y/o to ride in Shows all over the World. All expenses paid. Mom wouldn't allow me to do that. She said I would get homesick. I think not. I was guaranteed a $5,000.00 a week salery! Big money back in those days. So I got married instead to a Professional Cowboy.

Other people wanted me to be a Jockey, but I wasn't into that. Too dangerous. Although I was told I had great hands by many in the horse world.

Only had one horse Andy an Andalusian who did a number on my hands. He had a hard mouth unfortunately. When I got him back to the stable I took off my gloves, and my hands were all bloody. He was extremely difficult to control. I tried every trick I knew and nothing worked. I told them to only give Andy to a very skilled rider. I also said some day he would break a leg. Guess what? He did with his next inexperienced rider. They had to destroy a magnificent animal. Broke my heart.

Carlea, I love your pictures! Sedona is one of the most beautiful places on earth, don't you think? Did you drive through Oak Creek Canyon to get there? That is another of my favorite places. I hope you had a good time - not too many people are brave enough to venture to AZ for a pleasure trip in the summer!

Not sure as I wasn't driving but I do remember the name Oak Creek. It was not our choice to go at this time either but my plane tickets were about to expire and had to be used before Sept. 8th. I had been trying to get to AZ ever since last October. My doctors finally said I could travel but not by myself and since my DH was still tied to the house because of our old dog his daughter agreed to go with me. She had never been out west so a trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon was a must do.

I love Sedona and we have a favorite motel we stay at. We watched the sunrise from the terrace and the sunset from the airport.

Great shots of the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I have been to the Grand Canyon and just loved it. I hope to get to Sedona some day. Everyone says it is gorgeous. Your trip looks like it was wonderful. That waterpark sure does look refreshing. I could use one of those in my neighborhood this summer.
