Karen we are getting hit with a nasty Storm as I am typing this. Wild displays of lightening, Rolling Thunder, and downpour's. Been going on for the last hour!

Carlea I lit a :candle: for Jim and will continue to keep him in my prayers. You take care of yourself too. You have a problem with your legs right?

Well I found out what the critter was that ran into the garage a week ago or so. I had the surprise of my life today when I went out the door to the garage and saw a rat! I opened the garage door thinking it would run out, but no it headed right for me! Squeaking as it came closer. Well I grabbed a Snow Shovel close by, and started swinging. I know they do go for the throat, and I had to defend myself and I did. When Ken got home it ran under the step into the house, and I continued. By the time he got home it was dead, but he checked it. He was upset I killed it, but it was either me or it, and I'm not ready to go yet!

Latham, NY is just outside of Albany (NY's capital) and near where my GF is. She said an intense storm blew through there in the afternoon but later on you couldn't tell it rained because it was so hot. It's about 90 miles north of me. We just had hot, hot sun here and when I biked up to the lake this afternoon it felt like I was breathing in hot fog - ugh! The swimming was nice tho!

Hi all...Happy Birthday to all that are celebrating August birthdays...Granddaughter celebrated her 18th yesterday. She had plans to celebrate at Disneyland with three friends. Two friends got sick (one was the designated driver) so that left GD and her best friend. Now what to do??? Amtrak was the answer...worked out perfect...got an early start from Solano Beach to Anaheim...the shuttle to Disneyland was waiting and dropped them at the ticket booth and, since it was GD birthday she got in free!!! Caught the last shuttle leaving Disneyland to Amtrak and made it home just before 1AM this morning. She and her friends are trying to do it all since this is the last week before they all scatter to different parts of the country to start college. Today it was out to lunch with Aunt Paula, beach party last weekend and they are going to see "Wicked" in a couple of days. Whew!!!

You are braver than I, Cricket...I leave DH to set the traps for the rats.

I haven't seen the Cirque show at SeaWorld...understand it is quite good, though...love the Shamu Bug!!!, KareninSoCal.

<::: BLUE WHALE WATCHING LIVE CAM

This is a new cam that just started this week. It is fabulous! I spent 2 -3 hours on it this afternoon. This is a whale watching boat that goes out every day from Dana Point. Today they had several blue whales, including mom with calf.

Check it out, you will be hooked. It is just as if you are onboard and will have the same expectations and excitement of the passengers. the next trip is tomorrow morning at 10:30am (Pacific time)

Okay! Okay! I get the hint. Going now....

Had to finish watering flowers in Farmtown first. Done now and very ready for bed! Walking around in the heat & humidity at the Greenville Zoo wiped me out! It may not be very big, but it sure is hilly! Why do zoo designers think zoos have to be so 'hilly'???

G'nite all!!!

Thank you everyone for all your prayers and hugs for my brother and our family. He was moved today to a wound care and rehab nearer there home. I think it is finally sinking in that it is going to be a long time before he is whole again. But he is a strong person so I know he will get well.

My left leg is much better. All it needed was a few days of rest.

Hugs to call and thanks again.

Howdy! :}^

It's been awhile since I've been on chat....hope everyone is doing well!

I have a most unusual request, but for a good cause!

I received the following email today, which I believe to be legitimate. It came from a va.gov email address. Sounds like the sender works for the VA (Veterans Administration)

"I am currently working on a program to provide
wildlife viewing opportunities to Disabled Veterans. Do you have any documentation/testimonials about the positive
effects of viewing wildlife by individuals who may have been
sick or depressed? Thanks in advance for your timely
response as I'm presenting the program soon."

I know how much watching the eagles can be uplifting, yet it could be depressing at times. Would anyone be willing to share how watching the eagle cam or other cams has helped them while they were depressed or sick? Could you personally email me your testimonial? Or perhaps someone that you know has benefited from watching cams. I am assuming this person needs them to be able to get funding for computers, etc for the veterans. I personally think wildlife viewing is good for the soul!

Thanks for your help!

:Hugs: to all!
