Deb, thanks for posting Paula's request from yesterday. I had gone to bed by the time she posted it. I am e-mailing her today with my story. I am convinced my reintroduction to life began with watching the bald eagles of the Channel Islands. :)^

Lovely shots of the orcas, eagles and bears! MY-T-FINE!

I would suspect that wherever you would find a pod of orcas dining there would be eagles in as much as they both love fresh ><'> >>: . Then again, so do the bears! :)^

:}^ Good morning!

Two days without a computer :'(

It wouldn't get on line. I called my provider and chewed on the support person's ear for a while. He just about had me convinced to replace the telephone line in the house.

Interesting :<:: I don't know if it had anything to do with it - but my DSL line came back - SOLID! What I did was try to think "What could be causing a problem with my connection?" One thing I thought about was those "energy efficient lightbulbs" (flourescent). I have heard they can cause interference and I have two in the vicinity of the computer and telephone wall outlet. They are on my ceiling fans. I took both out (one I guess had "vibrated" itself out! One turn and it came out! May not have been making a solid connection. Sooooo, took them out and put standard bulbs in and turned the computer off and went to bed.

Yesterday, got up - and saw solid DSL light on computer. Still needed the internet light. Had to run off for the day. Got home last night and fiddled - ran a connection test. Internet light appeared!!!

Got on this morning, and all lights on modem were on solid. :><:

Did a speed test (how fast a page loads) (free at 2wire.com - look at the top of the page for "speed meter") and was slower than usual. However, everything seemed to come up fine! No noticeable change. I'm on line! :**: :**: :**:

I wonder if those flourescent bulbs were at fault. (no other changes were made)?

It's a mystery!

Howdy! :}^

It's been awhile since I've been on chat....hope everyone is doing well!

I have a most unusual request, but for a good cause!

I received the following email today, which I believe to be legitimate. It came from a va.gov email address. Sounds like the sender works for the VA (Veterans Administration)

"I am currently working on a program to provide
wildlife viewing opportunities to Disabled Veterans. Do you have any documentation/testimonials about the positive
effects of viewing wildlife by individuals who may have been
sick or depressed? Thanks in advance for your timely
response as I'm presenting the program soon."

I know how much watching the eagles can be uplifting, yet it could be depressing at times. Would anyone be willing to share how watching the eagle cam or other cams has helped them while they were depressed or sick? Could you personally email me your testimonial? Or perhaps someone that you know has benefited from watching cams. I am assuming this person needs them to be able to get funding for computers, etc for the veterans. I personally think wildlife viewing is good for the soul!

Thanks for your help!

:Hugs: to all!

Good morning, all. Today we're celebrating . . . National Aviation Day

National Aviation Day is observed in the United States on August 19 each year to celebrate the history and development of the aviation. It coincides with the birthday of Orville Wright who, together with his brother Wilbur, made significant contributions to powered flight.
