Ian - thanks for sharing the video of the Kestral.  I have no clue whether it's a male or female though.  It doesn't stay still long enough to really get a good look at it.  So I'm going to just take a guess and say male???  It did have some pretty color to it.

You're on the right track, the color is a clue. :D

I suspect that this is a female given the colors of the tail. I think there is more white on the male tail and also a dark black band. I think too the color of the female's legs differ but i cant recall if they are yellow or dark

Pat, such thoughtful and loving tributes. I can only imagine how difficult it is for you to write these. They are written more beautifully than most obitutaries I read on humans. Thank you so much for what you do.

Laurie .. Patti & Linda ... thanks for your kind comments re the tributes.

I just posted over on NW ... that when it is an eaglet that we have watched from the hatching stage ... and really before when they are still in the egg ... it is tough writing their Tribute ... as we have become closer to that chick than an eaglet/eagle that we have just been updated about.

I wish the odds were more in their favour ... but with water all around them that '26 miles across the sea' must seem endless to them when they start the journey to the mainland.

Since I am neglectful in keeping up to date in NO during the hatching times, can someone tell me if K-96 and K-98 were the first hatchlings in their nests? I am curious (well, actually, I am always curious about things). Thank you.

Oh, I definitely agree with you, Pat. When you watch the eggs being laid, then hatching, and then watching the eagles grow and leave the nest, it is very close to your heart.

This is why I have a really hard time watching several nests. It's just so difficult to lose one.

I like your idea Lala just go with what works already. I hate the floor too. Sasha could do the floor???

Off to my first phlebotomy class. The health class was pretty interesting. Walks along the beach??? woo hoo works for me!

Peetie vacation??? What's that? I never go anywhere fun. Do it for me. OK???

When's the dog show? Will I see you two on TV???

Good afternoon, all. Just got back from the clinic and trying to catch up. (Story of my life. rofl )

Pat, thank you for the wonderful tributes to our babies. While it is hard to lose any, I agree with what has been posted about it being part of nature.
