Good morning Peep's. Oh how I love my Fridays!

Looking forward to this weekend when George and I get to go to a Dog Show. I'm sure he'll have a LOT of great pictures to Post afterwards.

Cicadids are going at it again since 7:17 this morning. Noisy little things! I always thought they were the 17 y/o Locust's. Guess not they are here every year now.

OK Peetie wake up across the Pond. I beat you to it this morning! You can thank the bugs making the racket here. Can't sleep with them carrying on.

Off to light some candles and I'll return to put the Link here. Then off to the Office.

Have a GREAT DAY!

Good morning, all. Still dark here, but it is going to be a nice day. Warm (92F) and dry.

Morning CatM.

Only 80 here so far but we have been having a terrible Heat Wave on the East Coast. They are calling for a High of 88 here today. Cooling off the rest of the week! :**:

Was up because captian kidney called at 0430 and my all news radio station said the official temperature was still 84 degrees.

Trivia tidbit---for the tempnerature to be "official" they are recorded at a specific site. In this area its Philadelphia International Airport. The methodology is rather specific too. Unlike most of us with our thermometer on the back porch or outside of our kitchen windows, the offical thermometer is placed in a location where no direct sunlight hits it thus enabling it to record only the "air temperature"

Back yard weather station says 63 here. Since sun is not over the mountain yet, the official reading at the airport is 61.

Since its stickier than a cinemon bun in a bakery here in philly, i had to pull up this gem from 1966.

Look at the side burns on John Sebastian. Even General Ambrose Burnside would be green with envy if he saw these

Lovin Spoonfulls' -"Summer in the City"

another gem from The Easy Beats from 1967! (yes i am "THAT YOUNG"!) rofl

Good morning.

Great songs George. Thank you for sharing them.

Cricket. Cicada's - I love hearing them. Nature has a way of soothing the soul and I just embrace those sounds. . .

I think we all need to do a little more of this:

oh for 63 degree day :( going to 90 again here and of course that wonderful storm coming is pulling even more warm (hot) moist air! it's going to stay east but we'll get a little rain - clouds and lots of surf (and rip tides)! beaches are closed and I'm sure some folks aren't happy about that! by Sunday it will cool back down and humidity a bit more reasonable!

busy day here at work - I can see the handwriting on the wall -2 really big issues so it will be crazy getting that all sorted out so I can go home at a reasonable time (like 2:30 :<:: )

hope everyone is well and hanging in there! hugs to all

so glad to see our WE girl was on the nest yesterday! :**: wonderful that she's still popping in!

call of the cicada

If you haven't had the pleasure - click on the above link to a site where she's recorded some of their lovely sounds :D

I didin't listen to all of them but go to this one ----

cicadas\01 - cicadas1may232004.mp3

we've had one here and one there but in the past week - WHOA BOY - they have come out in full force and can be quite noisy

a couple years ago we were driving on the highway in Ohio - headed to visit family- windows closed and started hearing a really loud noise

couldn't figure out what it was so I rolled down the windows - HOLY COW - it was tons of cicadas - it was deafening

and yes they do come out every 17 years but remember they are staggered - not all went to "sleep" year one - some went one year - some the next - some the next ---- so we're blessed with some cicadas every single year (some more than others)

Nature experts and scientists are still puzzled over the exact how and why of a cicada emergence.

It is truly a fascinating cycle of death and rebirth — a perfectly-timed spectacle of song and dance which only occurs every 17 years.

Ask any homeowner, however, and you'll find cicadas are best known for driving the neighbors to distraction with the weeks-long roar of their "love calls."
