Karen that Kindergarten looks like the puuuurrrrrfect place to start school. Doesn't she look thrilled. Most children are a handful the first day but doesn't look like she'll have any trouble. Did she go to pre=school? I think that really helps the little ones. Jill Bernie was in empathy with that little bear. It's almost as if he understood the cries. He kept talking and chirping the whole time. So sweet. Someone came by the other day and asked if Bernie talked. Almost immediately he started talking and then never shut up. Guess Bernie answered his question!

Since I am still a few days behind in reading CHAT, this may have been posted by someone else...it came in an email and I couldn't believe this. I, personally have never put my handbag on the floor of any washroom, but I have put it in the occasional shopping cart and I do put it on my kitchen counter when bringing in groceries ![]() Your Handbags May Be Contaminated ![]() Have you ever noticed girls who set their handbags on public toilet floors, then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table? Happens a lot! It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes 'what you don't know will hurt you'! Read on............. Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been. It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day. 'I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot,' says one woman. 'On! The floor of my car, and in toilets.' 'I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts and on the floor of the toilet,' says another woman 'and of course in my home which should be clean.' We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag. Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared. Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty. It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked. Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick. In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. 'There is fecal contamination on the handbags' says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception. The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. 'Some type of feces, or possibly vomit' says Amy. So the moral of this story is that your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen counter top. Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. 'If you think about putting a pair of shoes on your counter tops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the counter tops.' Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have walked, sat, sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc! Do you really want to bring that home with you? The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags. |

Add me to this question, too, Deb. I have heard nothing since my original e-mail from and no additions to the list of winners for quite some time. I have looked in all areas of the NAC section.

school starting - oh no - where did the summer go - cutie she is yes the cookies made it all in one piece (until we ate them gobble gobble) I'll post the info at IWS when the airport folks clear it! this is their first shipment to be sure it worked and that the cookies survived cross country! LOL they did! Pam - I was out a few weeks on vacation and Peter has been in and out and out and in. Since we can't post NAC info here - it needs to go to IWS but folks don't seem to be following thru. I know lots of folks have won but haven't asked that I post their names so...... I have a few to add so will get on that and post the list in Chat (today/tomorrow) AND I know Peter is wrapping up the drawing notifications - however this week I believe he's at SC overseeing the trapping again - trying to get those eagles so they can give them new transmitters! hope it works out for the IWS crew this time around.last week Stephanie said the eagles were coming down and eating fishies they threw out so hope they come down and get more fishies so IWS can capture 'em! It's all for the good........ :soar: |

Sandie...Jossy went to preschool for a few mos. but that is all. She's always been pretty outgoing when it comes to this type of thing. Like her mother, she makes friends easily and doesn't have a problem when it comes time to separate from her mother. Thank goodness  Linds was fine about leaving Jossy until she was driving home then she broke down and sobbed  I did the same thing when both my kids started school ![]() Deb...loved all your pics yesterday! Such a pretty place where you live! I have an aunt and uncle that used to live in Rochester, NY and Jim and I went to visit one summer. I remember it being really pretty there, also. I couldn't handle the winters, tho! |

one of the first things CA folks remarked about when we posted the East Coast Gathering photos earlier was how GREEN everything is! and then Jann said the same thing last week when they arrived to visit the grandkids! let me tell you - I don't take it for granted because very soon, we'll just have very brown, bare branches reaching to the sky ........ for months! we already have some leaves here and there (due to the heat we had recently)! |

Sorry George I'm afraid I won't be watching that one...it's hard enough seeing eagles chow down on bunnies and waterfowl but a lamb is just too much for me

Deb, as an afterthought, is it possible that lots of these winners are not sure of the procedure to get on the list--like I? I know how easy it is to miss something posted on the forum. Thanks again. |

Penny I agree....too much for me to watch. I almost felt that way when I saw a little blood on the poor little bear in that video. Glad Mommie showed up when she did. Whew!! Karen I don't think I cried when I left the kids at school for the first time. I think it was more of a relief to me then anything else. The kids didn't get upset either. Probably glad to be independent somewhat. But she certainly looked thrilled. Does Lyns have any other little ones besides the one in mommy's tummy? This is not getting my homework done. |

Pam a few folks have contacted me to say they've won but asked not to be included in the list - guess not having it on CHIL has "quieted" the response...
I have nothing to do with the drawings nor the notices - Peter handles it all so..... you only get on the list if you post it or let me know! (and if I'm paying attention)

Harpo I don't know how you pay attention to so much as it is. Can't imagine you missing much. I remember the green hills around Virginia and DC and Maryland. Then the brown that lasts a while. But my Auntie and I would only go to Maryland in the Spring and Fall. None of that bad weather for us!! Before there was airconditioning in each unit we used to sit in the bottom of the closet with wet sheets around us. Within a very short time we were on a plane back to California. And also if we had to go out with more than just a nice warm coat we were headed home. Fair weather girls only!!!
