Hi Everyone, A quick early update for you before we start trying to trap this week! We have been receiving GPS data for two birds – A58 and A46 – who have traveled up to Oregon and have been hanging around their respective areas for a couple of weeks now. A58 is in Polk County, sitting tight on the Columbia River near Modeville. This is his first time leaving the islands! Here is an image from Google Earth with A58’s GPS point on the river… A58 on the Columbia River ![]() A46 (Steven Jr!) has left the islands again, and is in Klamath County, off of Ivory Pines Road near Wild Billy Lake. This is located about 60 miles northeast of Klamath Falls. Here is an image of his location as well… A46 near Wild Billy Lake ![]() And lastly, A64 was spotted eating a cormorant by some seabird biologists surveying Santa Cruz Island last week! They were able to get some pictures of him on the North Shore. Here is his location… ![]() And here he is! ![]() It’s amazing how camouflaged the eagles are against the cliffs… ![]() Have a good week everyone, and we will update you on how our trapping attempts go. Amanda, Steph, and Pete |

Amanda, Steph & Pete - Thanks for such a great update. Looks like A-58 and A-46 are quite the adventurers, that's a long way from home. A-64, our little Spirit looks wonderful, glad he is staying on the island for now. Good luck with your attempts at trapping these very clever eagles. |

Thanks for the early update! Good luck with the trapping! Great seeing Spirit.....and nice to see him staying close to home! Safe journeys to A-58 and A-46. Maybe they're looking for mates to bring home to Santa Cruz?
