I'm talking to myself here. One more item - Mid September is our Hummingbird Celebration! They have reorganized and made some improvements, so can't wait! Last years was canceled at the last minute due to Hurricane Ike that went up to Galviston (sp?) Everyone was soooo disappointed. They got everyone back this year, so can't wait!http://www.rockporthummingbird.com/ |

Hi Penny It has been so unbareably hot here that everything is shriveling up. I watered every day, but by the time the sun passed in the morning, they looked worse each day and finally, the tomato and hummer bush gave up.Interesting - the third container had a small bouginvilla! It seems to love it. I know they like the sun. I may put some in the other two containers and have lots of color. I do have two tomato plants (came in a flat of four) that I plan to just put in a large pot and let them grow over the side of the deck and the pot will have a little more protection from the sun. EDIT - They have been remodeling a house down the street. Yesterday when I went by, they had laid a large yard full (they are on a corner) of grass squares. It looks beautiful (went from a dirt yard to beautiful green grass!) I noticed they had built in a sprinkler system, but I don't know if it will survive the intense sun right now.

Sandie beautiful pictures of the beach last night. I love Ocean waves! Gulls were enjoying their Sashimi. Deb I feel with you for your shoulder pain. Try putting a pillow underneath the effected shoulder so you can't roll over on it. Please keep us posted as to what your Ortho. says today. Hope it's nothing serious. George I hope the pain you are experiencing isn't from our walking at the Show Sunday. LaLa picture of Sasha and her friends in adorable. Love the shoe laces, arms around each other, and position of Sasha's feet! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIQUITA. Hope you day is as special as you are

This friend of ours is a *** Lt. General who served in Country (Viet Nam) in the 60's. We have Lunch with him every day. He sings every weekend songs done by Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Unfortunately no one listen's. He did not project over the noise in the Bar. I told him to imagine he was still talking to his Grunt's, and PROJECT! I also changed his music to Barry White, Otis Reding, and Solomon Burke. Now they listen he says. I am going to try to see him perform again this Sunday. He found a woman to sing the female part to, I've Had The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing. When he learn, I'm A Love Man I'm sure the roof will come off the place, because I told him to dance as he does it! It will also help his weight. He is a patient, and a 6th Degree Black Belt who was almost mugged last weekend. but fought the 3 creeps off. His hands are cut up and burned, and a laceration on his upper lip. He tried to hide all that from me, but I could tell by his swollen knuckles he had been in a fight. He told me I was too sharp, and no one could pull anything over on me. Especially him. |

I seriously don't know how you can take all that heat every single day for months on end Marti Poor plants I love the idea of the Hummingbird Celebration!!!! ![]() This image of the Leucistic Hummer reminded me of that leucistic Golden Eagle that was rescued in Colorado and sent to a raptor rehab in Pueblo. I should follow up on that again as the director wrote me back and told me that 80% (at that time) of the birds feathers had grown back and they were concerned with bumblefoot and her vision which they thought was caused by a lack of Vitamin D and that it could be related to her lack of pigmentation. |

My Banana Plant is now bigger then I am! The 3 AeroGardens I have are still growing good things to eat for us. I have Basil, Chives, and Thyme in my 3 Pod, 7 heads of Lettuce in my 7 Pod, and 2 Mega Tomatoes, 2 Big Boy Tomatoes, and 2 Sweet Peppers in my 6 Pod. It's so easy a Cave Man could do it. Just add water and Nutrient's, when the light comes on that tells you to do so! I will have these growing until December when everyone's Garden's are covered with snow around here this Winter. I will have to replace the Grow Lights in October. |

Happy Birthday Chiquita! Have a marvelous day! Life has kept me 'bound and gagged' with no time for internet activities for some time, but I do drop in when possible to keep up on major events. I noticed on Limuw's tragic anniversary you Chiquita quoting my sad and ironic observation about how the fire in 2007 caused the PH camera to be the only one online and how all loving eyes were then on our beloved Limuw until he made his last fateful journey. I also noticed you mentioned our Coast to Coast AM talk radio show of last month too (we've done about a half a dozen C2C shows over the years). It's funny how it seems many people seem to avoid comment for one reason or another. I know our material is controversial to some but it's our life's work. Thanks for 'seeing' us. That show was on the C2C Favorite Show list for almost two weeks and a few people have posted it online if you're interested in hearing some of it. Someone in the UK made a 12 part Youtube posting of the three hour show, too bad the poster image he used for it was over HALF manmade Crop Circles. Since the C2C site requires membership to listen to it, we appreciated finding our show on Youtube. It does take a chunk of time to listen  to but we've had a lot of positive feedback on it. (Links to all 12 parts in right column)Christopher, I'm sad to report the word is official now: Chowder will not be renewed so there will be no more new episodes after this Fall. It takes a few months to air them after my part is done so even though we're all out of jobs now new shows will air for a few more months. Now, if Ed's health will only stabilize enough so we can move before we run out of $ things might seem brighter. I hope today's Update is better than last week's terrible news. After the tragedy at PH this year I didn't have the heart or courage to do much nest watching. Enjoy the rest of your Summer y'all.

Marti do you water in the evenings after the sun goes down? This is the best time to do it. Water thoroughly, and the plants will loose the wilted look by the next morning. The worst time is when the sun is out, and is shining on the leaves. The droplets of H2O will burn the leaves, and eventually kill the plant! |

A Happy Rescue Story ![]() Click on image for video (2:12) A Nanaimo-area bald eagle spent Thursday night hanging upside down from the tip of an 80-foot tree on Protection Island, where the adult female had somehow snagged her back talon and could not get free. The injured bird could have been easy prey for vultures who had started to circle overhead yesterday morning, according to conservationists, but a brave residential tree climber went up the Douglas fir early yesterday morning and brought the eagle safely to the ground. The injuries were minor and the bird should be back home within the next few days, but the experience was "intense," explained Jill Radcliffe of Pacific Northwest Raptors in Duncan. Residents had spotted the bird Thursday afternoon and contacted Radcliffe later that evening. Early the following morning, she and Mike Cardinal of Canadian Tree Services took a ferry to the island. Cardinal climbed the tree, dislodged the talon, placed the bird into a duffle bag and lowered her to the ground. X-rays show the eagle hadn't broken any bones, but she suffered severe swelling in her leg. Spending a few days resting is not nearly as bad as the alternative outcome, had the bird not been rescued, according to Radcliffe. "They're pretty strong birds so it could have been an unpleasant demise over several days," she said. "It's unlikely it would have been a quick thing." Cardinal specializes in removing dangerous trees, but often his Cowichan Bay company gets calls to rescue cats. He gladly accepted the challenge to save a suffering eagle. "I had to cut back the tree a bit, so I could break off the tip, but once I did, the talon just came right out," he said. "I was glad to do it. I'd do it again any time." Rescuing an eagle from a tree is quite rare, according to Radcliffe, who said most calls are for birds on the ground because of injuries. Of all the rescues at the Duncan centre, 98% of them are human-related, collisions with vehicles, poisonings or electrocutions. "This particular kind of rescue wasn't common," Radcliffe explained. "I could maybe see a baby getting into trouble like this, but she is an adult. It just happened to be a bit of bad luck that she got caught up in there and couldn't get away." Pacific Northwest Raptors has helped approximately 20 eagles so far this year and about 70 other types of birds. |

Well at least you wont have to sing YES! We have no BANANAS! We have no BANANAS TODAY!An oldie and a goody by Louis Prima but the Spike Jones version is also a gem There's a fruit store on our street It's run by a Greek And he keeps good things to eat But you should hear him speak! When you ask him anything, he never answers "no" He just "yes"es you to death, and as he takes your dough He tells you "Yes, we have no bananas We have-a no bananas today We've string beans, and onions Cabashes, and scallions, And all sorts of fruit and say We have an old fashioned tomato A Long Island potato But yes, we have no bananas We have no bananas today Business got so good for him that he wrote home today, "Send me Pete and Nick and Jim; I need help right away" When he got them in the store, there was fun, you bet Someone asked for "sparrow grass" and then the whole quartet All answered "Yes, we have no bananas We have-a no bananas today Just try those coconuts Those wall-nuts and doughnuts There ain't many nuts like they We'll sell you two kinds of red herring, Dark brown, and ball-bearing But yes, we have no bananas We have no bananas today" He, he, he, he, ha, ha, ha whatta you laugh at? You gotta soup or pie? Yes, I don't think we got soup or pie You gotta coconut pie? Yes, I don't think we got coconut pie Well I'll have one cup a coffee We gotta no coffee Then watta you got? I got a banana! Oh you've got a banana! Yes, we gotta no banana, No banana, No banana, I tell you we gotta no banana today I sella you no banana Hey, Mary Anna, you gotta... gotta no banana? Why this man, he's no believe-a what I say… no… he no believe me… Now whatta you wanta mister? You wanna buy twelve for a quarter? Well, just a one of a look, I'm gonna call for my daughter Hey, Mary Anna You gotta piana Yes, a banana, no Yes, we gotta no bananas today! The new English "clark" (a.k.a. "clerk"): Yes, we are very sorry to inform you That we are entirely out of the fruit in question The afore-mentioned vegetable Bearing the cognomen "Banana" We might induce you to accept a substitute less desirable, But that is not the policy at this internationally famous green grocery I should say not. No no no no no no no But may we suggest that you sample our five o'clock tea Which we feel certain will tempt your pallet? However we regret that after a diligent search Of the premises By our entire staff We can positively affirm without fear of contradiction That our raspberries are delicious; really delicious Very delicious But we have no bananas today. |
