I had to have three when the idiot at the gym missed spotting me on the weight bench - messed up my rotator cuff and my right arm was not the same for a LONG time. They were small dosages - first one lasted weeks, second one a few months and the last one did the trick. I would have never been able to do anything if I did not get those shots! My doc sprayed my shoulder with instant freeze stuff before he did the shots - they hurt for a day or two but then were MUCH better! |

I got up early the next morning, snuck into the kitchen and ate the leftovers for breakfast and I never eat breakfast.

[/QUOTE] Hmm this proves my main point as someone who managed to evade and elude all phys ed classes in jr and sr highschool. PHYSICAL FITNESS will kill you! Look on the bright side though. At least you didnt have a heart attack. My former late neighbor was an avid tennis player and would play weekly at a club nearby. One night he was playing doubles with two cardiologists and anoter doctor was his partner. You guessed it, he had a massive heart attack there on the court and all three doctors could not revive him Just goes to show you that in the great lottery known as life our ticket is drawn eventually

Delta's Bandit Is Lookin' Good !!!![]() ![]() ![]() Images by Sue of Bandit in the large flight cages from today. Bandit Update from Sunday, August 16th posted by wildorcaimages Good Afternoon Everyone I have my own personal Bandit update for you guys today, as I was spending my morning volunteering at O.W.L. today and since Field Flights is the section that I always look after, I got to look after Bandit (and the other 7 eagles) in there today. Because to us at O.W.L., Bandit has exactly the same needs as any other eagle in Field Flights and is treated exactly the same, I will start at the beginning and just tell you the whole routine. I also usually look after Pre-Release which is another section nearby that presently houses 2 barnowls and 2 young Coopers Hawks. You can see it in the aerial photo on the website. I usually do Pre Release first. We have a certain way we move around in the cages, taking great care not to freak the birds out, never crowd them in any way and always give them a way out. When we come through one of the sliding doors in Field Flights and there is a bird on a perch to the right, we go to the left and leave the greatest distance possible (always with a way out for the bird) between us and the bird. Rule number One is to stay against the wall, so when they fly by they have all the space they need, foremost of all...... we are safe and the bird is safe. You always peek around the corners first in there..... and then step carefully around staying against the wall, just in case a bird decides to fly by just when you want to walk through. Its kind of like crossing a busy road...... look and look again. There are of course occasions, where you did all the right things and the bird just freaks anyways and comes where you didn't expect them to go. I have had to duck a couple of times But if you stick to the rules in there, everyone is safe. As you know, Field Flights is very long and has 10 sections in total. I normally enter in the front and as I walk through to check their leftovers, waterdishes and pools, they hear me and usually fly to the very end. As I approach there, they will usually fly by and go to the other end. This is a great opportunity to see how their flying skills are progressing. And sometimes one of them will just sit there on a high perch and watch you walk by, just depends on the bird.... but mostly they do what they are supposed to........ "HUMAN - off I go " As you know by now the sections in Field Flights change on a regular basis, as there are sliding doors to make sections bigger and smaller. Today, 4 eagles are housed in the first 3 sections - 2 adults, 1 sub adult and 1 Juvi. One of the adults is Buddy, who is back with his former companion, who is also missing his flightfeathers on his wingtip. I haven't actually looked at "Buddy's" file to see what his exact story is, I just remember from when he was in Field Flights before he became a foster parent that he can't fly. We have to be real careful around him when cleaning the cages (which is a given for ANY eagle anyways!!!)... but take extra special care cause when he spooked he will just tumble to the ground. He is actually missing a wingtip, which means that he will not grow the feathers back as he is missing the whole wingtip. He will be with us for a while. He is a talker too He is quite the character. He did have a lot to say as I was checking for leftovers and filled up their waterdishes. I always love it when they talk to me The next section has an adult male and the Juvi that David and Karen rescued. I also remember her from before her release in Field Flights, she is a pretty big girl and it looks like she was her strength back. She is looking good. The last 5 sections are housing Bandit (to us 09-228) and another Juvi who is about the same age as he is. As I entered Door #5, I could hear them fly to the very end, which is usually what they do. Didn't find any leftovers of food, so they are both eating well. As I got to the end (or Section 10), I carefully peeked around the corner and they were both sitting on the lower perch together. The older Juvi flew out toward the front right away and Bandit flew toward the higher perch in the corner (the one that he is sitting on in the pictures that were posted this week). He needs to still work on his landing skills, because he missed the perch, but caught himself and then flew by me after his buddy toward the front sections. He is flying beautifully. As I made my way toward the front to exit, the older Juvi sailed by me gracefully and Bandit sat on the perch to the right of me. So I gave him all the room he needed and went off to the left to head along the wall to the door. But he didn't really know what to do and flew in the same direction I walked. So I just stopped right against the wall to not confuse him and let him sort himself out and he ended up flying past me to the end of the cage again to be with his buddy. Its all part of learning for him, and his landing skills and coordination will become better and better every day. In the wild it takes an eaglet a few days to perfect these skills. When I came back with all the food for the eagles, Bandit and his buddy received 2 nice chunks of salmon, which I put on logs on the ground. They are obviously finding their food. Its important to NOT throw it in front of them - but put it where they can see it when they fly over, and not associate it with us. This helps them with their food finding skills later on in the wild. I also filled up their pool, though I am not sure if they are using it. Even though apparently Buddy was having a bath with them when they were together, so they know about having one. I didn't go all the way to the end this time as there was no need, but still both of them did a flyby back and forth. Its really neat to see how they use their tailfeathers to maneuvre through the sliding doors when they have to bank and basically go in a slalom. Such a neat way for them to practice their flying skills. And they are well on their way. So there you go, I hope you enjoy the read. This is pretty much the most extensive description of my day today, well part of it And Bandit looks great, and healthy, the little guy we saw hatch so many weeks ago has now turned into a "real" eagle Enjoy! Ellen PS. I just noticed the question regarding Bandit being vocal. He didn't make a "peep" today at all. |

Laurie, Just what I needed to break up the day. I've just EM-ed it to all here at work. I expect the laughter to break out shortly. Classic Abbott & Costello - I can just picture them doing it .

Carole maybe you need to buy a Spinach box like Laurie??? Harpo just in case how MANY bottles of IP do you have???? I'm sure you and ES have everything imagineable on hand. Aren't you supposed to be prepared for anything? Bandit George you and me too. I couldn't swim, swing a bat, or jump rope so no one picked me. I also used to "flush" the permission slip for immunizations cause I didn't like the thought of a needle going in my body. Now here I am studying how to poke other people!!!
