Penny I like happy-ending stories. Even knowing that eagle was rescued and is relatively OK, it was still tough watching her in such distress! |

Thanks Jill. There was nothing for Ventura but I called this lady that rescues squirels and she is going to contact someone for me and then call me back so I know for later. |

I went outside yesterday at about 1:00 pm. There on the side lawn was a big reddish golden dog. She was laying in the shade of the house since it was about 97 degrees. She was panting too. I got her a bowl of water which she drank down. And another. And another. And another. She got halfway through the fifth bowl before all was done. I talked to her to see if she was okay and if she was friendly. She put her head up and the tail started wagging up a storm. I was afraid she had been hit by a car, but the wagging tail told me different. Really sweet pooch. I tried to get her to come to me, but I think she was old and had hip displasia. Her hind quarters didn't cooperate, and she was too big to lift. Bob had the car ten miles away on business. So I called Animal Control. Got the dispatch desk. They told me they would be out sometime that afternoon. I explained the situation - that much longer, and the dog would be in full sun. They transferred me to the driver of the pick up vehicle. She came right over. The driver was about 4' 6". I was wondering how the two of us could get that big dog (evidently well fed!) into the back of the vehicle. She went to the side and pulled out a large section at eye level. Then she hit a button, and this dog had her own elevator to get her on the truck! I told the driver I wasn't sure if she could walk. She petted the dog and then put a leash around her neck and gave a little tug and said "Come on". That dog got right up and went with her to the truck, got right in the "elevator" and the door was closed. I gave her a good bye pet on the neck through a slot and she was happy as a clam to have someone looking out for her. No fear whatsoever! The Animal Control gal said "Someone will be looking for her! Nice dog." I hope so! I would like to have a word with the owners. Also, she had no collar or tags either.

We have a little less than one month and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America. If you forward this email to least 11 people and each of those people do the same ... you get the idea. THE PROGRAM: On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds. Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do . (1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you. (2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day. Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America! |

Chiquita is the one that told me about the Pet Cemetery on Catalina.. a 'can't miss' spot from now on... and lots of good advice about keeping a diary for the girls and what they say... today's entry: I was watching Summer today and we came inside from playing outside.. I turned the TV for Summer and she said: "Grandma, I have to go in the other room cause Sasha and I can't watch TV until we start listening better".... she continued to tell me: "If we get 5 gold stars for listening better, we can watch a show" Yes Chiquita, I wrote it down... |
