![]() This week they had to evacuate the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite because of boulders falling into the parking lot...I just dug this out from our trip... shows how normal the boulders falling seems to be... the hotel is in the bottom middle of the picture.. I took this from Glacier Point... I don't think the indians that lived in Yosemite made their tent camps quite so close to the rock slides... we should take lessons from them... A large slide happened in Camp Curry two years ago also, taking tent cabins with it... thats part of Yosemite's history....lots and lots of sliding boulders and granite.. By the way, the parking lot is between the mountain and boulders and the hotel... one boulder was the size of two SUV's

Ojailala, Awesome picture of Yosemite! I hiked and climbed there in my much, much younger days. .Great story about the boulders. Thanks for the encouraging words -- I finally gave in and got computer because it was embarrassing to have my 8 year old Grandson looking things up for me. The first thing I learned and could do with any certainty was watch the Eagle cams. A friend showed me and walked me thru it a few times. I was hooked in about 15 secs. of watching those fledglings. It made learning computer worth the struggle. I was devastated when two of them died. Of course, I had seen the statistics but somehow did not believe it applied to "our" Eagles. I quit for a few days but could not stay away. This is what prompted my question yesterday. I am happily working my way thru the suggestions. So good to be able to say this to people who understand. So happy to have you join us here flybymar! I think you will be amazed at what you can find on the internet, and how entertaining it can be. Of course, the internet is useful for a lot of stuff, but I think it is a great time waster! Those of us at the forum watch an amazing number of animal cams, at different times. Right now, there is a cam on the new mama panda and her newborn at the San Diego Zoo. Check out the snowman cam (http://www.snowmancam.com) - even in the summer. Stick with us - we have a lot of fun here!

Well, hi there flybymar....good to have you here. Seems like you'll fit right in here with all of us. Don't be bashful. There is no such thing as a stupid question. I turned the whole forum purple once. So anything you do we can correct!!! That was a lot of fun and no one lets me forget it!!! Purple is my favorite color I'm embarassed!! I took an ugly test today....everyone else thought so too but I did really bad. coming out I guess. I got 21 questions right out of 40. Boo hoo. But not many got much better. As long as I can pass with a score of 70 or better they will still call me a phlebotomist!! And it's my own fault.....I didn't even have a chance to study!!!

Oh forgot to mention DD finally found a place to move to. Bless her heart she has been looking for so long. It's a studio in a large complex. But at least she'll have her own space.
It's still in oxnard
Guess I can't have everything!!!

I remember getting this when I first brought Bell home with us. I loved it. VICK needs to read # 7. A Pets Ten Commandments 1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you. 5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. 7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you. 8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or maybe be getting old or weak. 9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old. 10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. Just got it again this morning in my e-mail and wanted to share it even though I am crying it's still a beautiful read. |
