Good Morning!

Friday night, I watched another successful launch of the Space Shuttle - Mission STS-128. :><: :><: :><:

Snagged some live shots to share of this beautiful "bird" (and saw something strange!) Remember when we were looking for eagles on the hill side, and we saw all kinds of things. Well, I saw a "face" on the bottom of the shuttle - just before it disconnected from the big orange fuel tank! Really amazing!!

Here is a short slide show (about 12 photos) of before blastoff on the launch pad for the night mission - and of the blast off and shots from the NASA cams on the shuttle on the way up. For those who missed it, night missions are fairly rare and absolutely beautiful.

Marti, when I clicked on your photo of the space shuttle to see the slideshow, Photobucket told me that the action I was trying to perform, had failed. :( :'(
Anyone else?

:o Just saw the headlines about the So. Cal. fire spreading in all directions and threatening 10,000 homes!

Be safe if you are in those areas! They think they will have favorable conditions today.

I hope K-35 has returned to the islands.

:o   Just saw the headlines about the So. Cal. fire spreading in all directions and threatening 10,000 homes!

DH told me he read the fire in Santa Barbara was started by marijuana growers.
I guess that is a big problem this time of year.
I have seen photos of HUGE crops that have been raided in our area out in the National Forests.
Apparently these are professional growers armed and dangerous.

yes they are and also the approaches to the "Crop" are often booby trapped. I know that sometimes NFS ,NPS and other law enforcement personnell have been injured in the past by them as well as visitors who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I had some training on this but i was never posted to a park with that sort of problem.

I had to share my birthday cake. Our elderly neighbor gave us cupcakes to take on our camping trip. DH found a candle - B-Day cake! (He claims he couldn't get a permit from the fire department for the correct number of candles - like they would even fit on the cupcake. rofl )
