George, beautiful mums! I don't understand why they do not allow photos. It doesn't make much sense to me. |

FYI the news report i heard on our local All News radio station said they were killed when their vehicle slipped off a ledge while trying to escape the flames which were advancing rapidly. I guess with all the smoke it is hard to see what is around you other than the bright flames and the increased heat from them. Hopefully they will be the only ones IMO these heroes are a rare breed. I am sure most of us would want to deal with the intense heat and dangers of wild fires or for that mater the danger of entering an involved building.

George I think that the NO rule is just because of all the social net working sites where inappropriate uses of images abound....that 'teen twerp' was probably protecting herself because it makes no sense at all to worry about the fish or pet pics. I bet they'll have a sign on the door 'tout de suite' now :lol:The mum shots are really gorgeous and so is the beautious little bluebird. I've never seen one of those in our neck of the woods. |

Nor do I. I do see the rationale for prohibtion in supermarkets because alot of the store shelves are sold for product placement to the various food companies. Therefor the risk of industrial espionage by the competition could be a good reason. I just objected to some teen twerp hassling me. If they were THAT concerned they could have doen what alot of other merchants do by placing a sign "videography, photography and the distribution of literature inside is prohibited" and that would have been sufficent. Maybe PETA and the other animal rights groups are not happy with their business practices regarding the sale and purchase of animals and they fear bad pr shold peta send an operative in with a hidden camera. |

i should hope so. I really didnt get nasty until they put their hands on me. I consider that to be a form of battery bordering on assault. Needless to say, i shall never EVER go in there again nor patronize a petsmart store in the future. As i spit on the door i should have started coughing and saying somthign about my bad case of tuberculosis or swine flu but then i would likely have been arrested as a bio terrorist |

George, spitting on the sidewalk carries a $150 fine here because of serious health concerns like the transmission of TB, but a lot of people do it all the time anyway

Oh so sad about the two firemen. My heart goes out to their families. Sandie - I was wondering what song to chose for today you just chose it for me. It's a perfect song for the fading days of summer Here you go. It's called Blue Skies - Perry Coumo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h99YtMfrh_c |

The station fire doubled over night and is no stopping it right now. The firefighters drove over the road and were killed
Now it's heading on to Santa Clarita. It's 134 square miles. 500 homes are being evacuating in Santa Clarita and setting back fires. I hear the wind has picked up around Acton too. They are cutting down trees around the whole area trying to keep it safe. It amazes me that they can figure out how the fire will act and move. |

Yes, they do have laws on the books for that reason. I recall seeing in the past signs in the subway about spitting and they were leftovers from the pre polio vaccine days when TB too was rampant. Of course there are still the cat sized rats who swarm our subway tunnels who could spread the plague so what about them? Normally I do not spit in public, but when i am exposed to cavalier actions by someone who may or may not be on some sort of power trip i just had to spit out of contempt. instead of spitting on them of course, thats even too gross for me to even contemplate |

I think gov AH-NOLD said yesterday that the lack of wind is a big problem because the smoke just hangs there and doesnt allow the planes to drop the retardants where they are needed. So with the wind picking up there may be more planes in the air doing drops over the flames |

George it is battery. Little teen person sounds a bit out of control Yikes I did not think about police fire etc communications at Mt. Wilson. Ihear Canada just sent down their super scoopers. The smoke is just awful. Yes there is no way to see where you are going in all that smoke. I would run from that fire too......so very very sad. It strikes at my soul when a peace or fire officer gets killed. Those men are revered to me. Penny I am not sure I would stop to take a picture of the cute bear. Well, maybe but yikes. Thing that bothered me about that picture is no snow. Isn't that a polar bear?? Oh good news cottonwood fire is 90% contained. woo hoo

Uh OH My neighbor just came over complaining about Bernie when he screams at me. He said it's okay when I'm not home cause he doesn't scream just waits til I get home. But everytime I move he screams. If he can't see me he screams. This guy is very sensitive to noise. He doesn't even like the wind chimes above him that his neighbor has. In his defense his bedroom and living room is right next to my door. Which I have to keep open for breeze purposes. He's having an Epidural on his back on Tuesday so the pain is certainly a factor. But I don't know what to do!!!

The station fire is outta control. My best friend was evacuated finally, early Saturday morning. She was trapped Friday night with firemen staying in front and back of her home. While talking to her, I asked what those loud noises were, she said they were dropping water on her property and the roof of her home. Finally Saturday morning, the firemen were able to get her and her few neighbors out. She's at the top of Tujunga Canyon at the base of Angeles Crest Highway. This morning the Sheriffs said her home is still standing!
