Good morning Peeps.

I saw in another Forum they finally caught the two boys who intruded upon the W.E. Nest this year. Boy did they get off EASY! At least I'm glad to see they were caught. Hopefully they have learned their lesson, and this won't happen again.

In yesterdays Update I read where the Eagles Won and the IWS Team lost. They were unsuccessful in capturing any of our birds, however the birds were smart, and the Team lost a LOT of >>: >>: >>: In a way this is good because the birds are not use to human contact, and keep their distance.

yes who said "there's no such thing as a free lunch"? The eagles sure have disproven that. rofl

Just checking in prior to doing "the doctor dash" this am. I am off to consult with the oral surgeon this morning. I hope she will be able to do something today but i suspect that she will want to wait til the other two teeth extractions have healed up some more. Of course with the antibiotics i am taking, it could be best to get it out now than to wait. Thas why she went to dental school and not me , shes the expert :)^ :X:

How clever those eagles are - they're happy to take the free fishies but smart enough to elude Dr.Sharpe ! How frustrating for them...... oh well, maybe next time!

Just got a note from my brother - he's doing well after the pneumonia when he arrived in Kuwait! He's now in Baghdad (?) doing desk duty until he gets health clearance (and I hope that's never - stay at that desk).

My nephew (one of them) just arrived in Korea to begin his deployment.
Another nephew will be heading home shortly from Iraq for re-assignment/training.

Waiting on final orders - another to be going to Korea shortly and one is scheduled for Afghanistan. :(

Again thanks everyone for the encouragement and ideas for my mom. We'll just keep working on it and figure out what's best for her. I always felt so touched by Trish and her mom cause I knew that's what coming in our house ..... hope we can be 1/2 of what Trish was for her mom..... <3

eaglepedia revisited

July 26, 2007

When it comes to other eagles, the Bald Eagle is a clumsy hunter and fisher and actually relies heavily on dead or injured fish, even patiently waiting on those that come to shallow water to spawn. The Eagle will steal fish from osprey, harassing it in the air until the osprey drops the fish for the eagle to quickly snatch! The Eurasian counterpart of the Bald Eagle is the white-tailed sea eagle, which occasionally strays to Alaska. It is grayer than the Bald Eagle with a pale head, not white. The largest member of this group is Steller's sea eagle, which inhabits coastal northeastern Asia and occasionally visits the Aleutian and Pribilof islands of Alaska. It is a blackish eagle with a wedge-shaped white tail and (in adults) a large patch of white on the shoulders.

<::: Update on Golden Eagle 'Crash'

Posted Image

On August 4th 2009 a male golden eagle flew into the windshield of a semi-truck traveling down I-80 at 70 MPH. The force of the collision pushed the windshield into the driver’s lap and the eagle now nicknamed “Crash” ended up on the floor of the cab dazed but still alive. Crash should have died on impact, but now after his third visit to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s Avian vet, Dr. Douglas Folland of Parrish Creek Veterinary Clinic, on Monday August 25th, his condition continues to improve.

An examination x-ray of his broken wing shows good signs of healing and Dr. Folland hopes to remove the four wing pins in approximately two weeks. Crash’s eyes are slowly clearing up and both react to light stimulus although he seems to favor his right eye still (left eye received impact trauma from the collision). WRC Rehabilitation experts were hand feeding Crash daily until the 24th when he was presented food on his perch at an attempt to get him to self feed. He eagerly consumed all without effort or help from handlers. Crash is getting noticeably feistier and harder to handle which is a good sign of his continuing recovery and gives us great hope and expectation for his eventual release back into his home in the Summit County area.
