Thought a "blue moon" was anytime there are two full moons in the same month? The moon determines when Easter happens too which is why it is either in march or april. By definition Easter Sundy is the first sunday after the first full moon of spring which means it can occur as early as march 22 or as late as April 15. If the full moon of spring is april march 21 , (the same as the equinox), and that happens to be a saturday, Easter Sunday is April 22. However, if the first full moon of spring happens to be on April 18 then Easter falls on April 25 which wont happen until 2038. The last time late easter happend was in 1945. The last time Easter fell on March 22 was in 1912 and wont be that early until the year 2285. Just thought i would toss that out and moon you all with that tidbit of astronomical theology. No i dont have convieniently available the tune "Blue Moon", or even "New Moon on Monday" by the Australian group Duran Duran I must be somnambulating as its now 2 AM here |

Here's what the Farmer's Almanac says about the moons: http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon-names • Full Corn Moon - September This full moon's name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested. Most often, the September full moon is actually the Harvest Moon. |

Hi Pat, I see you are here. Shouldn't you be asleep too? I notice George has gone off again. Maybe I should have started a "new day" since it's after midnight, just too lazy! I'm wondering about this Phlebotomy class and just couldn't get it off my mind I guess. I'm so glad we have so many smart people around. I have heard of a Harvest moon. There was a song I remember Moon moon lovely Mr. Moon won't you please shine down on me. Then something about a there's a man behind me with a gattling (whatever that was) gun I'm so scared I'm afraid to run. Don't know the whole song. Gerorge do you have that one handy?? |
