a note in the paper - folks who want to put their birds out to enjoy the weather - be aware of the chance of getting west nile virus ....... a bird is a bird ! (for those of us who live in areas where that is a concern)

I'm working thru the last couple days of posts ---- after a miserable thurs and fri - I felt better on Sat and the weather was pretty good so in the afternoon, we hopped the train to the city to visit the Intrepid! we've been there many times before but a few years ago it was dislodged and towed away for refurbishment - it's an aircraft carrier!

we have not visited it since it's return - our friend did recently and said it was nice! still disappointed that they've not opened more of the ship like many other displays that we've visited in SC and NJ and NH ......... but it is way better than it had been in the past!

so we thought we'd play a game (as my phone turns out was dying LOL) - and we played "where in the world are ES and Harpo" with Jann! Had her going for a bit .....
1st photo shows tip of Empire State Bldg. - 2nd is the Concorde (which we got to tour - not much of a seat on that plane for $8,000 - guess it was the food and view and speed that you paid for) - #3 is ES and the Hudson River - #4 is a cruise ship launching (that was cool) - 4 is the Intrepid deck and City behind!

http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCAM/i...opic=4345&st=57

anyway, we went to the new park next door on another pier and the National Park Service had a barge and another boat open for touring FREE so ES and I hopped on board but they moved too much for me - I hopped back off and ES did the quick tour! Dinner at a nearby bar - a walk thru Times Square WHERE we remembered the earth cams so had ED look for us - :) Jann found us quickly on the earthcams - there's a ton around the area - just wanted to say HI to everyone.

The area was PACKED - you couldn't walk at all (darn tourists :) ) we bought a bunch of T-shirts for family kids (the 7 for $10) and then we headed for the train and home! Thanks ED for putting up with us and sharing the photos! (yes lots of folks stopped and waved and the ladies indeed were calling like us - to someone somewhere LOL)

The photos posted on Sat were awesome - love the hummers - so sad about the fire - how does that happen / what are people thinking! extremely sad about the little bison .... geez I hope they catch 'em and do the right thing ...... just awful. loved the other photos - penny come fix up my yard!

Karen woo hoo your back yard is coming together - awesome - PHOTOS ?????
enjoy it - how great for the kids too!

now for Sunday........

now for Sunday - feeling great - we goofed at a home a bit then off to the store to get some foods and then went to family BBQ at MIL's that had been postponed from last week due to possible hurricane storms which fizzled out in the end! LOL glad it was yesterday though - nice and cool - no humidity!

yes indeed we got a 3rd laptop since first 2 crapped out - ES had it up and running with the wireless - haven't gotten the networking going yet - a friend is going to come over and help with that - whew!

the panda photo is soooooo cute
can't wait to hear about penny's tour

but it took several tries LOL :(

wow sandie - looks like lots of fun at the party - glad you had a good time :><:

oh I forgot - ES did take photos :clk: of our Sat NYC visit - will get them gathered up a bit later and post a look or two here.....

Happy Birthday, John/Kruzmisl (a day late) :bday: :bday:

I thought that was the USS Intrepid wiht the shot posted the other day. I knew right away due to the tail of the Concorde in the frame. I think in usa there are only 4 on display. One at JFK, another at The Smithsonian Air and space musuem in Dulles, Va and one in Arizona i think. Thus with the river it had to be the intreped exhibit.

I agree with being able to see more below deck. I went over to see the USS New Jersey a couple of years back and almost forgot of the important anniversary of the Nomandy Landings on June 6

In honor of Labor Day, here is that tune Al Gore claimed he grew up listening to from 1976. Hmm he is younger than Me??? The ILGWU, International Ladies Garment Workers Union jingle:

Look for the union label
when you are buying that coat, dress or blouse
Remember somewhere our union's sewing,
our wages going to feed the kids, and run the house
We work hard, but who's complaining?
Thanks to the I.L.G. we're paying our way!
So always look for the union label,
it says we're able to make it in the U.S.A.!

Good morning and Happy Labor Day to all.

Love all of the graphic's, one of these days I will try to get the hang of those, and pictures too.

When out last night with the Retired *** Lt. General we know, and listened to him sing. He tried some New material on his own, but must work on projecting, shading, and breath control. He stayed on key, which is more then I could say for some others. I'm trying to get him away from the ballads although I do love them. I think he would really get his entire body into it then.

Deb glad to hear you had a wonderful time in N.Y.C., but sorry about all of the trouble you are having with laptops.

Well I am on my 3rd day off in a row, and loving every minute of it too. Just taking it easy, and not doing anything really. Will do the same again tomorrow before returning to work on Wednesday. It will be hard working 3 days in a row, since we normally work 2, then off 1, work 2, and off 2 each week.

I have been on a Mission for the last several weeks only buying what was made here in the U.S.A.. I had no idea how hard it was going to be, but I am determined to make a statement. I was on the QVC Website all day yesterday looking at clothes, and 90% of what I saw were made in China!! Even the two I managed to find that I liked the fabric was imported! At least the garment's were made in the U.S.A. I am trying to put some people back to work here. We have so many out of work who need to return to work desperately. Now I know I can't do it all alone, but if there any here who choose to join me in this effort please do so. Just look at everything you are wearing. I bet it was all farmed out to other Country's. This is why all of the Mills in Ga. were shut down. Not they want to make Condos out of the Mills. Those who live in the Mill's homes are dirt poor so let's help American's out, and stop helping other Country's Economy's. Buy everything made in the U.S.A.
