It is rather a sad commentary on us industry that we are not making even the basics here in the good ole usa! I would glady buy American IF the quality were there at a "reasonable" price. Taking the side of the big corporations, why should they be forced to make in america at a cost per unit much greater than the cost per unit if they were to manufacture elsewhere? Their responsibility first is to their shareholders, not the unions. This is where i take exception to the unions demanding increasing wages each and every contract with the maintenance of archaic "work rules" Why should it cost more ,for example, to have a us brand auto made in a factory that costs more per labor hour and takes more labor hours to manufacture than it does in the same state for one of those "other" makers? If i can make a car where i pay a person on the line 15 per hour why should i pay 25/hr to have two doing the same task that i can use one for? The corporate responsibility isnt for their executives in upper management nor for the common workers on the assembly lines. We must realize that in a capitalistic economy the primary responsibility is to the owners of the corporation. Those being the shareholders. If the shareholders are not happy, the board of directors and ultimately the workers feel their wrath. This is what they call a free market. ![]() I will gladly buy american IF the price and quality warrant but until i see quality for the right price ....i dont care where it is made |

![]() We sat out in the yard until dark, watching the fire near the lake... lots of drama with helicopters and bombers... fire never seemed out of control but was hard to put out for sure... Hoot Jr. flew into the tree above us so guess he is getting a little more social.. kept looking into the field for dinner...he stayed for about half an hour...had to put a light on him to get a good picture |

http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2009...ws-to-10-acres/ Here is the fire story from the Ventura Star this morning... On a sadder note, Ojai came in 2nd for Best Tennis Town in America... still, $50,000 is not too bad....I'll post that story too |

Linda that sure turned into a big fire ![]() I liked this reminder from Michael Strawhun, spokesman for Division 5 of the Ojai Ranger District, U.S. Forest Service: “On this holiday weekend be very careful with your barbecues and open flames. It’s very dry out there.” ![]() I Owls...Hoot looks so big now!!! Nice "Here's lookin' at you kid" |

Well I just finished my Christmas Shopping Online. I am so far behind this year. Normally by this time I have it all wrapped, boxed up, and shipped to Ga. where I will put the bows & tags on Christmas Eve. Then help Joan with her wrapping, tags & bows, which takes all night. Wednesday I will have to order more wrapping paper, tags, and bows for when the order comes in, before I take it to Mail & Parcel to ship out of town. WHEW I'm glad that's all done! |

I also have to say the quality of the clothes I have from China is very poor with loose threads that were not properly finished off. What was made here is just perfect. I'd gladly pay more, just to help out my fellow American's get back to work. |

Thanks, Cricket. I can't believe you have your Christmas shopping done. I haven't even gotten the gift for middle grandson's birthday - which is the coming Sunday!

I have to say I started looking and bought Maria the Dale Earnhart GPS on QVC when I was in Ga. back in May-June. That's all I had bought till recently, and today I finished it off Online so I don't have to deal with the long lines, parking etc. Normally I start my shopping for the following year in January, but I got into a rut this year. Now I'm back on track again. It's too depressing if I do it any other way. |

Happy Holiday to all...hope everyone has a restful Labor Day. Cricket, you have put us all to shame...having all of your Christmas shopping finished...I don't have a clue as to what to get anyone as yet, plus, DH has a birthday in Nov. and I'm clueless as to what to get him, although, he has made a request...the framing of a signed poster of someone he admires...now where is that poster after all of these years!!!...and do I trust it in the hands of someone else?? I love Hoot, Jr.!!! Chiquita |

Well, after looking at the DH took of yesterday's tour I have decided NOT to post any of them so instead, I'll post some artists websites you can visit to see the kind of work they do....if they have one that is Click on each image for more![]() ![]() Heidi Hunter's quilts and more. Heidi is an award winning quilter but she is also a fabulous photographer and a musician!!!! ![]() Nancy Hall's Playing Hooky Rug Studio ![]() Cheryl Torden's Fish Fly Gallery featuring original works by Prairie artisans. ![]() Gary McKague does not have a website but here are some examples of his raku pottery. Fred Casey has been making stringed instruments for over 35 years. Click on 1st pic for more. ![]() Helma Rogge Raiders along with 5 talented artists from Germany and Poland exhibit at her Boundary Creek Studio Gallery. They do not have a website. ![]() Glass artist and award winning photographer Linda Vermeulen showcases the work of many established local artists. I think you all can get a good idea of the quality of work from this small sampling of the over 30 creative souls who participate in The Wave Tour each year. These are the ones we saw yesterday. It is impossible to see them all so they have the tour twice each year and we still haven't gone to all the studios  |
