Good morning - glad to see all enjoyed the collage of photos yesterday - LOL

I was looking for something else and came across that sooooooooo decided maybe we could have a little fun with it!

I think Carole was the person who pulled it together for a NAC post - will have to check on that for sure!

ES and I were off to a Mets game last night - my first visit to the new stadium which is super nice! - you can leave your seat and walk nearly anywhere to get food - etc. and still have a great view of the field - no more walls behind the seats - totally open areas! WHICH now provides tons of accessible seating for those who need and tons of standing space - very, very fan friendly! Great fun (even though they lost :( )

However, just before going to the stadium, I was supposed to meet with my eagle candidate scout and the museum personnel about his proposed project! The lady blew us off and when called by the director -

a. she claimed john sent a later email cancelling (yet he had me and his dad leave work early and drive to a place that's hard to get to and not close to our homes?)
b. she claimed that her staff joined her for the meeting and they waited until 5:30 (yet why would you have your staff waiting on a meeting that was canceled)

and a few other disputed facts - well let me tell you, this is the wrong kid to accuse of lying ........ he is the straighest arrow - hardest worker that I know and of all the kids I've worked with in 20+ years - he doesn't lie...... and would never be so inconsiderate.

Well before I was going to smash the Director's cell phone in a rage - I hung up and kind of laid the phone on the counter - and walked (well maybe stormed) out of the door!

So will this particular project go forward - hmmmm we'll see won't we! But I've told my scout to contact the first person we met and ask to work with her instead. I can see right now person #2 isn't interested in working with anyone on anything.

I'm not boiling this AM but I'm still a little hot! grrrrrrrrr ;)

Taking a look at the food chain - Part I Salmon: Nature's Nutrient Machine - Returning wild salmon to freshwater to spawn is a rallying cry to the wildlife for miles around! Grizzly Bears and Bald Eagles gather around this annual "glut of protein" and is a spectacle to behold. But more importantly are the consequences of this annual event for the animals and plants from near and far. Studies are confirming some of the unseen effects that the spawning salmon have on the world around them, AFTER their spawned-out life has ended.

The Cycle Begins - The adult salmon dies after it has mated and produced eggs, usually remaining in the nest area to expire, drifting with the current of the water, resting with many dozen fish carcasses. Organisms begin to attack the bodies as they sink to the bottom or wash to shore, microbes to crustaceans to insects! Beetles and fly larvae swarm over the fish and predatory species - stoneflies and dobsonblies move in to devour the attendees at this feast. Soon the flesh of the fish is gone with the bones and cartilage remaining. Millions of the lower links of the food chain have now ingested the protein from the fish and many of these insects and their offsrping will be eaten by the next generation of young salmon as they move downstream to the sea after hatching.

Deb, how inconsiderate of the museum personnel. I would still be more than hot.

I would love to see the new stadium. I attended the opening of Shea back in 1964. At the time, that place was considered state of the art. As a Yankee fan as a kid, I attended mostly Yankee games, but I always enjoyed going to Shea to watch the Mets embarrass themselves (in those days, that was almost every game).

I think one of my favorite of the newer parks is Camden Yards in Baltimore. It is a very retro park - guess that is why I like it. rofl

I used to love the Yankee Stadium of the 50's and 60's. It had its problems - too many beams that blocked views, narrow aisles, etc - but I loved that place. I always felt sad when I saw the "new" stadium on TV after I moved away. I really missed those wonderful monuments right there in center field.

I would love to see any photos you have of the new stadium.

but I always enjoyed going to Shea to watch the Mets embarrass themselves (in those days, that was almost every game).

you werent there on father's day 1964 when now Senator Jim Bunning Pitched his legendary perfect game were you? Crud i think it was 1964 too when the late former phillies wiz kid, Ritchie Ashburn finished his carreer there as a Met.

I think that perfect game was the first time I ever actually listened to a game on both TV and Radio as a 4 yr old. Then that following september, was the greatest CHOKE in baseball history when the phillies only had to win one game with 8 remaining and they blew them all. Of course until the 2007 mets choke happened. But the debate as to whose choke was worse shall be the fuel for many a bar room discussion for years to come. rofl

Oh i had to comment on Karen's daugther's shots! Yes they get a Pudding award from me! They are MY T FINE

The use of backlighting really makes the shot pop more than if this were a sunrise shot with the people and boat more brightly captured. The key to a good photo is in knowing where the light is comming from and how the subject is illuminated by said light(s).

Many of us have taken a shot of ,for example, a group of cruzers with the light behind them only to find their faces hidden in shadows or where the background is totally "washed" out because the camera's meter was fooled and exposed for just the background instead of our subject. This can be very frustrating for when we take "important shots". Been there, done that , too too many times :'( :hide:
