Went to the music jam session at five last night. The park management had evidently tried to reach the person in charge and left a message. (Didn't get through) We got there, and half of the room had been cleared to strip, clean and wax the floors in the rec building. Tables and chairs were stacked up in the back. The stage (in sections) had been partially removed and moved. There me and my DH stood with a tray full of sandwiches and a cake for our friends birthday (surprise!). I left DH in charge and drove over to the management office. Susan sent her brother over to meet with us.

He said we could not walk on the roped off area, but he wouild set up a few tables and chairs for us. I jumped in and helped as best I could. He also took the stage sections and added on to the side of the stage - so instead of a stage 24 x 40, it was 12 x 60. :D

When everyone showed up, it looked pretty nice! Different seating, area, but it all came together. AND we had a new record attendance! :><: :><: :><: We had 13 musicians show up and 52 in the audience! Everyone had a great time.

Wow! We finally got rain last night... LOTS of rain!! :)^

I was jolted awake by big thunder boomers around 4 am. Our cat likes to sleep in the "inside porch". However, she hates thunder and lightening. I opened the door and she charged inside. :P Spent the rest of the night on the foot of the bed.

I don't think I have heard that kind of thunder before. Besides the rolling stuff, there were "crashes" (one right after another) like someone dropped their cooking pans on a hard floor repeatedly. :o :o :o Lots of lightening. After I got the cat in, I turned off the PC.

One of our energy saver bulbs in the bathroom was having a fit - I guess it thought it was a neon sign (on off on off). Removed it. Other one was fine. What a night!

Have a great day everyone. (Uh Oh, more thunder coming! Hopefully lots of rain too. Really need it)

here's a like to Mets and photos from around the stadium

you can walk all the way around of course behind home plate there's no view of field from walk way because you have to have the owner's box and the press! so on the level where we were - they have a super lounge and food/bar! you could only get onto our seating level with that ticket - they checked every time you went in and out - and that lounge area is only for folks on that level - it was super super nice! tons of screens to watch game and seating - real bar - just really fun!

then a certain section on the lower level - also same thing - they have their own "lounge" that only those ticket holders can access!

the field level has nearly every kind of food you could think of all the way around - not just a couple with 2 mile long lines anymore - plenty of bathrooms AND you can watch the game from nearly anywhere on the walkways! even kosher food stands!

they have a bridge - yup a bridge - in the outfield that walks over the bull pen area (of course you can't see down in there - and they have tons of seating nearly on the field - just really nice!

our tickets afforded us a VIP entrance (elevator w/operator) - lots of elevators if you didn't want to do the stairs!

lots of fun- very nice!

Welcome back Carole, I finally get to see the Zoo Buddies again :D I think everyone was sick and tired of my over-the-top, non-stop images of Squiggles since you've been away :D

This morning a Blue Jay flew into my yard and checked out the feeders...no peanuts, so he left :( and I didn't have a chance to take a :clk:

DH wants to get either a Nikon P90, the Olympus SP-570 UZ or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 point and shoot camera because they each have an ultra long lens for zooming in super close and you don't need a tripod...which he has 3 of for his D70 and never takes with him anywhere....too heavy and cumbersome !!! :P

One of those cameras would have come in very handy this morning :chk:
Maybe you could give us your professional opinion on which one to buy George.

What a disappointment for your scout Deb. Too bad he was dealing with a 'toxic' person....the kind that will use any means and blame anyone else for their inadequacies  He will be far better off not having to deal with her.

PS...where is the link to the :clk: :clk: :clk: in your last post ????

we HAD a Lumix FX150 but had to send it in - spec on lens internally

got the replacement today - it's an FX580

really nice little camera - real similar to what we had
BUT has touch screen if you so choose to use

however - we had extra batteries for the other cam so as to always be prepared - we got burned in CA on first trip when coming back from SR we ran out of battery :(

and of course those batteries now don't work ini this camera - darn!

Deb the Panasonic Lumix he is looking at now has an 18X zoom no touchscreen but is similar in size to the Canon Power Shot I have which is only a 3X. :)^

The Nikon P90 has a 24X zoom but the Panasonic has lots of filters and other accessories that you can add to it which the Nikon doesn't. I am glad he is doing all the research

Luv 'em - slip them in your pocket - point and shoot - great photos! we wanted to stick with 150 cause we had extra batteries but guess that's over :( oh well - guess I can buy an extra battery for this Lumix and be good to go again!

Well, i am sort of biased, but the lumix is a good unit. The lens is LEICA made after all and is an 18x which would be a godsend for birding. Also is soemthing that they call image stabilization which would help when fully zoomed out to the 18x magnification. Leica "glass" has a renound reputation and if it were in the leica digilux 4 you would be paying ALOT more for it.

Oly and nikon too have top quality glass but as i stated i am rather biased. Image stabilization supposedly allows one to hand hold a shot for longer expsures without blurr from such things as camera, shooter, or lens movement. I can not comment on this as i have only one nikon VR lens and dont feel blurring is much of an issue with short focal length lenses unlike the long 200mm+ focal length lenses

Tripods can be a real PITA to lugg around all day when out and about for sure. I have a small cheap lightweight one that has a shoulder strap sack that i can place it in for travel. However, one thing that can be a really #@$#$ thing is going to a venue such as a sports event or botanical garden which doesnt allow a tripod

This is just like the first "real camera" i ever used and similar to teh first ever bought with "my own" money. This is a black dial Leica IIIF made in 1954

Posted Image

This is like one of my newer , and different mount leicas, a single stroke M3 circa 1960 Posted Image

Both of these are as old as I am or older and i still shoot with them when i do shoot film. This is why i consider myself biased

EditedI would also not rule out one from SONY if it has a Zeiss lens on it. Both Carl Zeiss and Ernst Leitz were and ARE the premier optical companies of Germany which begat the japanese optical industry of today :BX:

Look too at the speed of the lens you may see somethign such as 27-240 2.8/5.6 the lens has a speed ,max apture of 2.8 at the 27mm wide angle and then is slower fully extended to , in this example, 240mm at f5.6. This means , without a flash you may be able to get a shot indoors with low light at the wide end but not the telephoto range of the camera's zoom.

Personally, all the filters and chit with the camera are fine but, they dont do anything other than what can be done with a basic photo editing program such as photoshop elements. I never use the ones in my d90
