Well, I've been struggling, as you know, what to do about this Phlebotomy class. Yesterday I spoke with my instructor and we agreed that maybe it would be better to continue the class when my eyesight is better. We also agreed that I would be able to audit the class. Well, this morning (2am) I woke up and could barely breathe and awful sore throat. Since you are not allowed to miss a single class (state mandated) I got an answer to my prayers about what to do with this class. I will NOT go to class and expose my classmates to this. I hope they all continue to do well and will maybe encounter one of them during some blood draw in the future. I'm disappointed. This is not the answer I was looking for! Everyone remember to drag out your flag for tomorrow and fly it high and proud! I'm going to go back to sleep now.....maybe. AND sleep in!!! |

eaglepedia revisited October 27, 2007 Taking a look at the food chain - Part II Into The Wild - Biologists are just learning how far reaching the nutrients from the adult salmon can be. The inland ecosystem, far away from the river will be touched thru the Black and Grizzly Bears who capture the dying salmon, drag their bodies ashore away from the stream, feed on only part of the carcass, leaving the rest to be eaten by others including birds, mammals and insects. The urine and feces of the bears then carries the salmon biomass further into the woods, far away from the area where the salmon spawned and died. Birds and bats will also feed upon the insects that enjoyed their share of the salmon remains, which in turn further spread this bounty. From Sea to Stream - A naturally occurring isotope of nitrogen, found in marine algae, help scientists evaluate the distribution of the salmon nutrients as it passes thru the food chain. This isotope occurs in marine algae and is further concentrated in the animals that feed upon it. Some of these plankton eating organisms then become a meal for the salmon while they are at sea and upon returning to the freshwater to spawn, they are carrying this stable isotope with them in their body tissue. Biologists have learned to read the "signature" of this compound and have been finding this nutrient of oceanic origin in places far from the sea. As young salmon work their way downstream, they seek out cool, shaded pools. Alders, maples, and spruce trees growing along the stream banks spread their branches over the water, providing this shade. Studies have detected, within the tissues of the trees' leaves and needles, molecules of nitrogen bearing the telltale signature of the open ocean, delivered upriver by salmon and now helping to provide cool shelter for the next generation. http://www.enature.com/articles/detail.asp?storyID=507 ![]() ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

Good morning sunshines!!! Hey guess what, I managed to remember to take my slippers off at the door and put my flip flops on today. What an absolutely beautiful morning. Can't wait for lunch time. I'm planning walk to enjoy the weather a bit. Tomorrow and Saturday looks like rain. Leaves are starting to get a bit brighter. I see some in the near future. I already have a couple spots I'm planning on snapping some pics at. |

Good morning all. Sandie sorry to hear you are dropping out of your Class. In not felling well, and not wanting to share what ever you have is, very admirable of you. Others just wouldn't care about anyone else, and continue making everyone around them sick. Hopefully you will be able to continue sometime in the near future. I think you were made to deal with the Public. That Eaglet almost looks like it has goose bumps! Poor thing needs more feathers to keep warm. It's 57 degrees here this morning. Ken just came back in with Bell, and said it was cold out this morning. |
