Regarding the molting of primary feathers; Gabby, a long time resident of OWL was rehabbed and released 3 times before finally being kept as a permanent resident. He had one wing which molted all its primaries all at once rendering the bird flightless for a long period of time."Gabby was a resident there for over 25 years. During his time at OWL he fostered at least 100 little ones and was a friend to at least another 300 or so. Gabby had a very calming effect on the other birds and if one was having a problem adjusting then Gabby would be brought in to be "a buddy/a friend" Gabby had a mate at one time and when the mate died Gabby "cried". Bev, not wanting to put human emotions on the situation, mentioned the sound is one she never wants to hear again. Gabby was with OWL longer than any other resident and when he died of natural causes Bev estimated his age to be at least 35 years, and probably older." |

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I checked in. This school year has not started off well. I noticed the rainbow next to K-98, Faith's name.
What happened? I saw the sad news about K99.
I keep my students updated on the good news as well as the bad news. It's a fact of life that we all have to deal with. I was relieved to hear that Thunder :soar: and Lightning :soar: are doing well! My students are always excited to hear news about them!

Penny isn't it adorable how something so teeeensy is the child of something so HUGE! And so loving Deb sorry the weather will not be cooperating for 9/11 but I'm sure the light will be a touching symbol. George I don't mess with the little guys when they buzz at me either. They can have all the space they want. I slept for a little bit but yucky.....and boo hoo. I'm so congested. I suppose I could have gone and worn a mask???? Nahhh too miserable. Thanks for caring from you guys and your support. Cricket if it was just a class that you could skip one or two and no big deal I'd try to make it. But I don't want to be the cause of someone not being able to complete their course. I'll be there in spirit and maybe take it later. I'm concerned about my record. Guess I will be able to take a "W" soI don't screw up my GPA. I'm not sure how that works. It's suppose to be warm today and warmer thru the weekend. Maybe I'll go out to get some Vitamin D?? Topa that's so great that you are going with your friend. Should be lovely out there today. I have not heard much about the fire lately so it must be nearly out and not endangering any structures. Hope the wildlife has re-directed themselves. Back to the prone position.

Anybody have any suggestions about the new phones that have the internet on them also. I saw an ad for Metro PCS that was 29.00 a month for unlimited phone and text and internet service. Kid has no internet service right now. We were hoping for AT&T but it's not offered in her area and the others we have checked are WWWWAAAAYYYY too expensive. Suggestions? |

Sandie the Station Fire is now 71% controlled... Incident Overview Image of burning Angeles National Forest sign "Burn out near Mt Wilson going well. Slow but steady progress per Day Ops Chief. Final prep for aerial ignition in progress. Firefighters burned out vegetation approximately half way between Mt. Wilson and Cogswell reservoir in extremely thick vegetation. The burn was successful, removing brush from areas where anticipated Santa Ana winds could cause spotting. The Northeast slope Mt Wilson burn operation is scheduled to start at approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning. A strong contingent of resources is assigned to this operation. Aerial ignition sources will assist with the burn around 11:00 a.m. The east flank of the fire remains uncontrolled. " For more info and maps go here: InciWeb Take some Vitamin C...1000 mg. Timed Release 2X a day works really quickly and keeps the air passages open

Trying to catch up, but I am really worn out today. I think a nap is in order. Sandie, so sorry you are not feeling well. While it is a shame about you class, I think you did the right thing. Topa, can’t wait to see the photos. I am very envious. George, great photos. Peetie, glad you are back. I too can’t wait for the photos. Super photo, ES. Thanks. Penny, thanks for the panda photos. I really enjoy them. |
