Every time I see a tribute to 911, I get goose bumps. It is something so horrid that I will never forget. Peace to those who died, those who lost loved ones and those who served. Posted Image

Thanks all...that was FUN !!! Luckily I got the camera up on time and just started clicking away with my 3 fingered method since I don't have a video program to get :clk:'s off of on my Mac :P

Loved everyone's contributions today...Linda
Hoot has grown up now it seems  and the pics of your trip and hike on Santa Cruz were so great to see too Topa.

We have been listening to our Leonard Cohen DVD 'Live In London' this evening...

I am saying :}^ now...we want to see the repeat on the Third Tower Documentary as a fitting end to 9-11 for us....a poignant and painful day for so many people around the globe.

I think it is very fitting that Discovery came back on this day :chk: :)^

Someone in the neighborhood is struggling to play Taps...he gets about three or four notes out and then stops...starts up again...then stops. He has been at it for 10 minutes, at least. I like it...the sound of the trumpet sounds nice in the cool evening...don't mind if he gets it all...at least he is trying. On Sat. and Sun. evenings in Avalon, Dr. Frank Blair, sits out on his back porch and plays his saxophone. He lives on the highest road overlooking Avalon so the sound carries all over town. I really look forward to his music in the summer evenings.

Penny, this is Hoot Jr. a brand new 2009 owl... same mom and dad I presume and same nest... I wasn't kidding about the blue jays telling me he was there.. My DH and I took lots of pics off the deck and then I walked closer and followed him up the hill to another spot.. he didn't seem to mind the camera.. even was 'sleeping' a few minutes.... he is still a baby you know... I'll find a good one or two for the morning... we have to get some dinner...

Hi again :}^ Awsome landing at Edwards. :><: :><: :><:

Topa, going to Edwards (the Dry Lake Bed) is amazing. I covered the Voyager Landing (Rutan and Yager) for my company newspaper! I'll see if I can find it and post a link. Amazing experience you'll never forget.

We had to be away part of the day. Just as well. It is hard to see the images replayed on 9-11. I think our building came to a screeching halt when the events happened. We were in the cafeteria, and it came over the TVs there. When we finally went back to our office, the TV was on there so we could watch.

I remember afterward (we were in a Federal building). We had two armed military at each entrance of our building. The loading dock was closed for a while. So intimidating to go in or out with them standing there with the big guns. :o

Gonna call it a night. CatM, prayers and healing thoughts and hugs to you and your family.

Hi lala, Just thought it was time to come out of my shell. I love your Owl photos. You really should gather up your photos to make a book or calendar. I was looking at calendars today, your pictures are just as good.

I didn't know there was going to be a landing today. I thought it was an earthquake. I always get my news from the forum, it was a relief. Cathie

One more, this one with flash.. but the cats were actually helping me out here with him looking down at one of them.. no eye reflection... I actually learned this morning that when slightly pressing down I can see if there is a red eye reflection before taking the picture... when I don't see the the red, I snap. Discovered this too late for todays pictures.. I'm going to try the white tissue thing George....

OMG! He's wearing a crochet shawl!!

Hey Wrightflyer my DH and I were right on the flight line when Voyager landed. He was on the "crew" as an assistant flight surgeon. It was an amazing flight and being on the "in crowd" was amazing. The Flight controlller spoke at my District President installation of BPW. I have their book too. Jeana was a real wonderful woman loved and rode horses all the time...Dick was rather arrogant if you ask me! We were there from the beginning of the test flights to those frightening last moments when we wondered if they had enough gas to get back.

Yes Elaine, he is.... The little guy is finally getting used to us and coming to the same tree and branch that Hoot did...the cats are bigger or maybe the same size as he is.. I don't worry about that... a kitten would be different... every afternoon, just before the sun sets, the birds, mostly jays, start sqawking like crazy... its a no brainer that Hoot is here somewhere....
