I asked Georgiana Valoyce a native American Chumash women for her photo. ( She also teaches Native American Studies at Cal State Long Beach. ) I then asked her if I could post her photo on the Bald Eagle Restoration sight. She said certainly of course the Chumash have really good alliances with people helping to preserve the bald eagles. She then went on to say.. " We are having a very special ceremony this weekend on the Island Of Limuw " ![]()

I've been
on and off all day - with each tribute graphic, picture, stuff on the radio, and people all around remembering where they were and what they were doing. I've done this each year on 911. It's still so vivid for me.

how great to spend time with some of the Chumash people Topa --- Limuw yes - the artist paints on stone/wood --- found the site by accident but $$ ![]() 9/11 is a very sad time here - year round will never forget trying to get home that morning and wondering where ES was (he was not working in the city at that time) - then be locked down here on the island and the restrictions that followed ... everything that was happening - friends and family involved in the efforts at GZ - will never forget.......

Harpo - You were closer to it than any of us. Topa, I went back and checked out your posts and pictures from yesterday. The color of the water was spectacular. and the Island of Limiuw.

Hiker, I loved all your pics next door... you should post them here too... just love the colors... especially the Chumash Indian Ceremonial Stick with Dolphin on top... I made a small one a couple years ago with beads and feathers and pretty yarn on a small stick.. and we use it when we bury small critters (the girls and I).. but a large one would be a real project... the sea lions...

Linda, Keep yourself in hiking shape. We HAVE to hike to the nest next season with our super duper new cameras to get close ups of the chicks and eagles..
