George please keep reminding me of the Dressage this weekend at Devon. I want to go and see it for sure. Would be a good photo op for you too. Sorry to hear about your feet again George. I know how badly you want everything working again. Keep me posted and when you have surgery if it's not at Penn I will come pay you a visit. Sandie I love that flowering plant. I'll have to get one now. When in Puerto La Cruz Ven. years ago we made it to the top of this mountain. Once there I smelled this heavenly fragrance. I searched every flower I passed sticking my nose in it (after looking for a bee of course) and finally I found the flower. I immediately took a picture of it and looked it up when I arrived home again. It was called a Amazon Lilly. I found bulbs at The Philadelphia Flower Show several years in a row and bought them. Unfortunately with no success in growing one for myself, but I have no intention of giving up either. Sandie what you are feeling is a bone fragment working it's way out of the socket. Try using something to numb the gum ex: OraGel, Bensodent etc. If it does not work itself out eventually you may need to return to the Oral Surgeon again. This is a normal Post Extraction irritation. Got a call from Maria just as I was sitting down to Brunch, and my 10 y/o Grandson Robert John, was diagnosed with the Swine Flu today. Never a dull moment! |

Nest Update - Blackwater Refuge.......... 09/16/09: We've started seeing vultures (here is an immature turkey vulture) and crows on the nest, which means Braveheart is finally exploring & fishing. We're not sure if Braveheart has left, but if we see bald eagles on the nest, it means the osprey family is not defending it.

I just got this letter from Regan regarding her surgery. Please keep prayers coming for her. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I so appreciate all your concern and love. I have been in survival mode and in so much pain since Monday. Laying face down has been so painful because of the arthritis in my neck and back. I haven't been able to think. The hospital turned us on to a company who rents vitrectomy recovery equipment and it was delivered this morning. Randy came home from work this afternoon and this is the first time I have been out of pain enough to be able to focus. The two hour surgery took four hours. Doctor said he peeled away as much of the scar tissue as he could on the retina, but he had to cut away much of the retina because of the rest of the scar tissue. He lazered the retina down, and put in silicone oil. He said he didn't think the retina had EVER been attatched. I would only tell this to Eagle People, but both this surgery and the last one, I could see an eagle sitting next to my bed as they prepped me. And, Pat, I took Maple to the hospital with me. I send much love and appreciation, Regan |

It's not as hard as it looks. Things are always the hardest the first time. Look at all you've already learned and are now teaching others. |

Regan, hang in there. You are healing and it will only get easier with each passing day. (I remember when Sandie had to go through a similar process with "face down".) - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Jann I'm so thrilled that Regan got the equipment she needs. Yes it can be extremely painful. My pain came as much from my orthopedic problems as it did from the eye. I wonder if that means she has always had probs from the retina in that eye. I'm glad it's over for now for her but she has a long road of recovery now. That face down deal is very difficult. Lots of love and blessings to her. I know when I went thru that I so very much appreciated all the help from Cruzers. It was one thing that help me the most. Cricket that's what I thought about the tooth. Could have been a new tooth poking thru   Wishful thinking I know!!!!

Dressage at Devon is 9/22-9/27. I would like to try shooting it for sure. However these events are always at the worst part of the month for me financially and the travel to and from can be very time consuming as its a dog leg of a journey into or towards philly then returning out towards the same direction . Foot surgery is a short procedure unit job. When they did the other foot i was there by 7 and done by noon and on my way home. Wont be done at HUP but their other major facility Presbyterian at 40th and Market |

Uh oh i hope Regan will improve ASAP. The term vitrectomy sends shivers down my spine as a diabetic as this is a common procedure done to my fellow diabetics with diabetic retinopathy when laser treatments fail to save whatever can be of the diabetic retina. |

Ohhhh, we had a (what looked like a youngster) hummer fly in to the open door to our inside deck. Don't know how long he was there = must have came in when we just got home and DH left the door open. He was flying at the window like a fly trying to get out. I had a long stick and sat it against the window for him to lite on. He would briefly do that, and then continue his quest to get out that window when there was an open door six feet away. I tied a baggy on to the end of the stick and tried to slowly herd him towards the door. Kept going back to the window. Left the outside door open and went in to fill a feeder for him so he could get a drink of nector. When I came back, he was gone. Looked all over and couldn't find him. he finally found the door after we left the area. I felt so bad for the little guy! Hopefully he is okay.I guess he was trying to tell me to "Get those feeders up!" |

Wow! Seems like we are going to have another round of celebrities passing away! So sad to hear about Mary Travers! I LOVED Peter, Paul and Mary! Their songs were very easy to learn to play on the guitar. Also, when I was in Jr. High my girlfriend and I went down to San Diego to try out for a variety show called "Mr. Benjamin Presents." It showcased local talent. We did a duet on the song "If I Had a Hammer" by Peter, Paul and Mary. We didn't make it on the show but I had fun trying out anyway. A great experience Henry Gibson was great, too!
