Good Morning Peepers....Ian that is one amazing story on the bats...those are just awesome. Their tongues look just like Siobhans :lol:Special for Regan as she recovers from her surgery. If you have some time on your hands check out this amazing video documentary on all species of eagles narrated by David Attenborough,...golden, bald and others. They are all in HD and rather long at 9 minutes + but are so spectacular. Watch them on full screen. Each one continues from the one before. You have never ever seen eagles so up close and personal ....prey catching, chick rearing and hunting of each species is presented in gorgeous detail. ![]() Eagle Eyes - Part1 (9:37) Part two opens with a close up feeding of a golden eagle and continues with a variety of eagles in Africa.Eagle Eyes - Part2 (9:46) Continuation of African eagle species Eagle Eyes - Part3 (9:38) Asian Sea eagles talon grabbing, helicoptering and fishing for venomous snakes, tiny Hawk eagles and Stellars...the largest and rarest eagles of them all. Eagle Eyes - Part4 (9:27) Crowned Philippine eagles are fewer than 200 left in the wild and Australian wedge tailed eagles. Eagle Eyes - Part5 (8:09) This documentary is available on DVD for those who may not be able to open these

Iggle, Eaglenut and I are Camping on Santa Cruz Island in mid-October. Fingers crossed on our hikes we see some of our sweet Northern Island Eagles. Spotting either K10, K26, Spirit and Cruz would be a wonderful experience. I do have a picture I took of K10 in Fry's Harbor a little over a year ago. He was being chased by gulls, the nerve of those pesky gulls. |

Carrier Pigeon Faster Than Broadband InternetSeptember 11th, 2009 by Lisa Zyga ![]() Carrier pigeon image from Wikimedia. (PhysOrg.com) -- In South Africa, a carrier pigeon carrying a 4GB memory stick proved to be faster than the ADSL service from the country's biggest web firm, Telkom. Winston the pigeon took one hour and eight minutes to carry the data across the 60-mile course, and it took another hour to upload the data. During the same time, the ADSL had sent just 4% of the data. The race was held by an IT company in Durban, South Africa, called Unlimited IT. One of Unlimited IT's employees complained about the slow speed of data transmission on ADSL, saying that data would get transferred faster by carrier pigeon. To highlight just how slow the broadband internet is, the company decided to test that claim. The 11-month-old Winston flew 60 miles from Unlimited IT's call center in Howick to another office in Durban. To make sure that the bird didn't have an unfair advantage, Unlimited IT imposed some rules on its website, including "no cats allowed" and "birdseed must not have any performance-enhancing seeds within." Hundreds of South Africans followed the race on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. For its part, Telkom said that it was not responsible for Unlimited IT's slow broadband speeds. A Telkom spokesperson said that they had made several recommendations to Unlimited IT to improve its service, but none of the suggestions had been accepted. As the BBC reports, South Africa is one of the countries that could benefit from three new fiber optic cables being laid around the African continent to improve internet service. via: BBC News © 2009 PhysOrg.com |

For Regan...am praying for you that this will be a quick and incident free recovery for you and that this surgery will work so that there will not have to be anymore. Rest and do exactly as the dr. says so you can get better. Lots of mantles! |

I've got some bats in the park next door - I think they are quite similar to those ones - they seem to be crepuscular - if I go out in the park when it's just starting to get dark I can see them flitting around. They are really interesting. |

Ian...loved the bat pics! That guy is an amazing photographer! My daughter loved them and said she is so jealous  She is very into photography and wants some kind of job taking pics. I love bats! They are so cool and interesting. My fave is the bumblebee bat. Very very small. And they are sooooo misunderstood! Used to watch the bats all the time over at the Colorado river when we were camping. Jim tried telling me they were sparrows but I knew better  |

Cushions on my patio that Kris and Jesse made. They painted the duck cloth with screenprinting ink so it will last. I love it! Kris is working on painting the last cushion and then he will finish the other 2 cushions. He also has enough material to make a few pillows for out there. Lindsay's baby shower is this Sat. here and we are having it on the new patio :-)![]()
