I may have missed it but I didn't see anything about who won on America's Got Talent last night....DH was overjoyed that the chicken catcher guy won the million and gets to be on the Planet Hollywood Vegas stage. I thought the opera singer should have won but she will undoubtedly be a big star anyway. It was nice to hear Susan Boyle sing again too

Hi teacherlady / regan fans, I had a nice visit with Regan this afternoon and a chance to take photos of her beanie support group, her beautiful kitty, the torture chair, but not teacherlady.. :-( ![]() Both her eyes look very tender, so keep your positive thoughts going for a full recovery. ![]() Teacherlady Regan showed me around her lovely home, ![]() we looked at the photos from her kayak trip with the orcas, and her visit with Pat & Roy in Canada. Good times for teacherlady. She is ready for the next adventure and that is a good sign of health. ![]() I stopped at the library and checked out three audio CD's of her favorite Native American books, and left her with a Susan Sarandon DVD, a blueberry smoothy and all the posts I printed out of CHIL from you guys. ![]() That should keep her busy until the next visit, maybe Sunday if she's up for company. Randy has been a good nurse, taking time off from the NPS to be with her. ![]() THE END

Panda Cub: 3rd ExamPosted at 4:37 pm September 17, 2009 by admin We know everyone is eager to hear the results of this week’s panda cub exam, so here goes: Now 43 days old, the little cutie weighs 5.1 pounds (2.318 kilograms), which is an increase of 1.2 pounds (0.5 kilograms) from last week, and is 15.75 inches (40 centimeters) long. His eyes and ears have not opened yet. His teeth are just below the gum line but have not yet erupted. ![]() Those are cute feet, but it's hard to see the webbing we've heard so much about. Like many of you, I like to compare the little guy’s measurements with that of his four siblings. Of course, not every cub was examined on Day 43, so keep that in mind: so here goes: Hua Mei, Day 46: 2.159 kg. or 4.76 lbs. Mei Sheng, Day 43: 1.923 kg. or 4.24 lbs. pounds Su Lin, Day 42: 2.0 kg. or 4.4 lbs. Zhen Zhen, Day 41: 1.89 kg or 4.17 lbs. 2009 Cub: 2.318 kg or 5.11 lbs. Yes, it appears our newest cub is one roly, roly poly guy! Video from the exam will be posted on Friday. |

Thank you for the wonderful update of your visit with Regan, Cathy. So glad you were able to go and spend some time with her. Loved the pictures, but her chair doesn't look very comfortable. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with her.

Just some news for you La dodgers fans regarding a dodger institution and philadelphia native son Tommy LaSorda. He is to have his portrait hung at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC to honor his carreer in baseball with the dodgers spanning over 60 years. I think the only one dodger who comes close to that was vin Scully. Here is the report from ESPN news Lasorda portrait bound for SmithsonianComment Email Print Share Associated Press LOS ANGELES -- Tom Lasorda will soon take his place alongside other Los Angeles Dodgers stars in the Smithsonian Institution. The Hall of Fame manager will have his painting hung in the museum's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The unveiling is set for Sept. 22, Lasorda's 82nd birthday. The life-sized portrait, measuring 60 by 50 inches, is part of the tribute to Lasorda's 60 years with the Dodgers and his life in baseball. He currently serves as special adviser to team owner and chairman Frank McCourt. "I am proud and honored by this very special recognition," Lasorda said in a statement released Wednesday. "I have been honored many times in the past, and am appreciative of them all, but to be included in the National Portrait Gallery is very special, and very humbling." The portrait, painted by Everett Raymond Kinstler, is part of the Smithsonian's collection of baseball-related art. Lasorda joins former Dodgers stars Don Drysdale, Leo Durocher, Walter Alston, Sandy Koufax, Gil Hodges, Branch Rickey, Jackie Robinson, Wilbert Robinson and the 1955 team photo in the museum. Lasorda managed the Dodgers for 20 seasons, leading them to eight division titles, four National League pennants and World Series titles in 1981 and '88. He retired as manager in 1996. This has gotten alot of news coverage here in philly which sort of surprised me given how die hard the phillies fans are. Granted he is a native son but I think the one thing about him is that he is a genuine class act and an all around nice guy. Years ago I was in a bar that his brother owned and while the dodgers were to play here the next day , they had an off day and he walked in the bar's door surprising even those who were really nearing being three sheets to the wind. Tommy too was also the godfather of former mets and dodger catcher mike pizza who was also from the same hometown of Norristown, Pa. |

Trust me there is nothing going to be comfortable with this surgery Regan has had done. I just pray that the 7-10 days go by quickly and that she has lots of healing prayers. I'm wondering how she is sleeping? I hope she's not trying to sleep in that chair too???? OUCH!!! I see St Francis of Asisi in her yard. We talked about him in our spiritual health class tonight. Then to come home and find his in her yard was a little trippy! George I don't understand what happened in that last game. Was it just a free for all. Take whatever you fancy? It must have been very interesting. And to have the ball just basically fall in your lap like that. That only happens once!! |

Well the old Connie Mack stadium was in a very very bad part of north Philadelphia and was very out dated. Unlike today , where the teams will auction off everything that they can even if nailed down into the stadiums for big $$$, 39 years ago this wasnt thought of yet and they let the fans grab what they could sicne the stadium was to be eventually demolished. Therefore whatever the fans took away the team would not have had to pay to have removed when the stadium was torn down. However before the full demolition could began, the stadium became fully engulfed by fire from some homless who were living in the vacant building. If memory serves me the stadium caught fire twice. Prior to it becomming the home of the phillies the A's played there from 1908 until they moved to Kansas city and then to end up in oakland after the Dodgers and Ny Giants left us in the east |

I must be a certified eagleholic. :soar: I have all three viewable nests up, every day, all day long, AM w**k, afternoon w**k, and at home (when I can get on my laptop), and they are all empty. I still have them on until they go dark. To quote someone on the forum, (who I don't remember to give the credit to), "Certifed eagleholic and proud of it."
