Thanks Marti My friend's memorial is actually next Saturday..her husband is still not home from Maine.. had to drive a large motorhome back.. it is so sad, as they just bought the motorhome and Donna was so excited about traveling... and their white lab, Gunner, would travel more comfortably.... I've been asked to speak at the service and am working on that at the moment.. something I am not comfortable doing....but am trying to overcome my fear of speaking in public....one day at a time....

George, remember Chester on the old Gunsmoke series (as a little girl I was in love with Matt Dillon! ) Still love the reruns. Chester had a bad leg. I have used his words all my life when friends got injured and limped... "Coming Mr. Dillon!" You got scheduled fast! Good to get it done and over with. It won't be so hot in October to wear the cast/boot. Good timing!

Linda, I was petrified all through school. Then, got involved with the Wright Flyer and talking to crowds. Now, they can't shut me up! I'll get up any time, any place. As long as I am speaking from experience, I am comfortable. She was your good friend. You will be giving a gift to all those attending. They will be loving your words and want more. You will do fine. Just figure out some talking points. Then just wing it. No one knows the words but you. And what a gift to your friend to have you saying a last "good bye" to her. She will be smiling down on you the whole time.

LaLa just imagine everyone sitting in their underwear, or something that may be funny to you. You can do this I know you can. It will be difficult, but Donna will help you through it. You'll be just fine. |

This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology. GPS A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard. When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents. Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen. MOBILE PHONES I never thought of this....... This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc...was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account. Moral of the lesson: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc....And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back. Also, when you're being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you. *PLEASE PASS THIS ON * I never thought about the above! As of now, I no longer have 'home' listed on my cell phone. |

Well, lucky for me i will only have to wear it for 2-3 weeks. Lucky for us here we dont normally get snow or ice that early. Of course my luck has it we shall have the snowfall of the century on Oct 19th. The good part with this is that i wont have to do any PT on it. Once the tendon is relocated and securely attached back to the foot, it can do its thing without any coaching from a therapist. |

To add to Jillers post about personal saafety, I received an email today with what I thought was a really good idea. If your car is new enough that the remote opener has a panic button on it, sleep with your keys next to your bed. If you are awakened by the noise of someone entering your home, hit the panic button. The alarm on your car will continue sounding until it is turned off or the battery is dead. At the very least, pretty soon many of your neighbors will be looking out their windows to see what is going on. |

Geesh I'm exhausted. Spent 7 hours on the road today and worked the whole time. It's hard getting out of the car doing paperwork then getting back in the car etc etc. But got it all done. What an adorable baby picture Cathy. Bet he will have a blast with Zie in the future. George so darn glad they were able to schedule that surgery so fast. Thank goodness also that you won't have to go out for PT after. That boot is heavy but so good to have. otherwise you'd be lift with no mobility. Linda what a wonderful opportunity to tell people some fun things that you and Donna were able to do. Make it a happy time in your life that you can easily share. And if yoiu don't want to speak the words you can have some one else read your words for you. Always nice to have that as a back up too, in case you can't finish. Jill that car is scrumptous. I wouldn't mind riding around town in that. Poor horses they did look like they were all dressed up and ready to go huh? How's our Regan d oing? Anyone hear anything? I went to the eye dr today and surgery came out of his mouth. What is it about eyes. Just one surgery after another??? Why can't they just get it right the first time. Remember when I said I had homework? Remember when I used the word procrastination? Well, this research paper is due tomorrow night and I have to work day tomorrow.....guess it's now or never!!! On the drive today I saw a bunch of hawks flying together. 8-10 of them. Then later a lot of pelicans flying in formation....single line. We were traveling too fast to get a picture. But saw a lot of hawks. Also for some reason people traveling in pairs. There were four RV's from the same place....maybe rented???? Then a bunch of the same kind of rehicles.....small bus type vehicles. Wonder where they were going??? IMWTK I may/may not be back later. Pretty tired. Hmmm hungry too. Guess that has to be first!! |
