Hello everyone, We have had a mostly uneventful week on the island. Pete and I have been working in the office and checking the status of the juveniles twice per week. I’m pleased to report both Two Harbor juveniles, K87 and K91, are still on the island. K91 has been exploring the southern coast and I have spotted K87 a couple of times flying over the Seal Rocks (SR) area and the quarry on the east end of the island. People have been spotting a juvenile bald eagle by the industrial part of the city and I’m pretty sure it has been K87. Pete spotted K93, the Middle Ranch male, perched on the pine trees at the reservoir again so he and his mate A32 are revisiting their “old place”. We decided to take down the (SR) camera tower and plan to use that equipment somewhere else so we’ll be refurbishing the active cams soon. This week we received a report on K23! This 7-year-old male was spotted on September 14 at Knights Intel, BC. It always impresses me how much and how far the intrepid eagles travel to and it’s so nice to hear (and in this case see) that while not on the island, they are thriving somewhere else. ![]() Pimu’s and Pii’ ich’s training is going well but no photos or videos this time. Have a great rest of the week, Steffani |

Office work is a necessary evil. Hard to find time to do it at times, I'm sure! Glad to hear the TH girls are sticking close to home and that you've had the pleasure of seeing at least one of them from time to time. Nice to hear K93 is back at the reservoir again too! That is such a pretty area.....a perfect place for a bald eagle to raise families year after year! Hopefully 2010 will be the year for them to begin! Thanks again, Steff, for all your hard work....even the paperwork! |

Dear Steffani, Glad to hear all the reports and no bad news! Good to get a glimpse of K23, too. I just wish all the "kids" would stay on the islands. /auri |

Hope he and A32 return there to nest--after their checking out other areas. Really super that K23 is thriving and quite handsome too.

Steffani - I'm so glad you & Peter are getting to see some eagles in between all the paperwork! It's nice that they are cooperating and putting in an appearance now and again. Thank you both for all your hard work, both in and out of the office... |
