Dr. Sharpe - I read about the Fraser Point nest with A64 and A49 pairing. The chick disappeared from the nest this year. I also read the A64 and A49 are both from the same parents at Pelican Harbor but different years. Have you ever known of brother sister pairings before? Would this affect their offspring negatively?

Judy - I was also interested seeing that the chicks came from the same parents, but different years. I did ask Dr. Sharpe if it was unusual and this is what he said.

"Probably not. Most of the chicks fostered on Catalina since 1992 came from 7 pairs of eagles from the San Francisco Zoo. There are probably many related birds breeding on the islands."

I personally think it was mainly because of the lack of fish this year and A64 being so young (not quite 5 yet) and inexperienced.

Hope this helps.
