On the Sept. 7th 5:22 pm archive at 57 minutes MeToo/Genii soars from behind Wray's peak and of cam to the left. She is back lit and the light off her wings shows no wing tags. Just before she soars by another eagle passes in front of the cam. Can you confirm this? I am convinced she is roosting around the cam#1 gear at night. I know how busy you all are, but a little panning around sunset would be nice. best regards, Randall |

Thank you Randall for capturing the time this happened. Dr. Sharpe, I too have been watching very closely the WE cam and have seen this bird fly up from the ocean side of the peak for at least the past 2 weeks and take the same flight path up to the peak where cam 1 and the all the gear is. Sometimes she gets very close to the cam and I am sure it is 5z/Genii. I never see any wing tags. I too believe it is 5z/Genii and that she is roosting on the ocean side during the day lite hours of those peaks and that is the reason why Maria has not been able to spot her when she last went out to WE. Regards, Marion |

As an update to Randall and Marion's question regarding MeToo's presence in the nest area. Tonight we saw her again in what appears to be the same timeframe and flight pattern as last evening. http://youtu.be/NqAQ8toAoeM Here is a video clip I captured from the archive for easy access to what we believe is MeToo going over the nest. I started the capture when a bird flew out from behind Superman's peak just like last evening - but what appears to be an untagged eagle (Z5??) rises up from behind Wray's peak about 20 seconds later for her trip back to the camera equipment area. |

I myself would love nothing more than to see 5z or K24. But in my honest opinion, I believe that these are just Raven that are being seen, maybe even hawks. Again, JMHO But I do hope I am wrong. |

JoJo, thanks for the input. Maybe if cam #2 could be rotated to focus on the cam #1 area at sunset we could get more info...:clk: |

Thank you, Dr. Sharpe. Could you also take a look at this video and let us know what kind of bird visited the nest this morning? (we of course are wishing it is MeToo) http://youtu.be/vCvw7ZzmSTE Hopefully this education we are getting during the quiet season will help us become better nest observers when the action starts this winter. Thank you again for all you do! |

It was probably a red-tailed hawk. |
